Fredo aims for anger and lands on fear. He straightens up and the chair swallows him anyway. Every gesture meant to make him bigger takes something off him. Michael doesn't rage back. Rage would have been warmer. He lets Fredo finish, and the second Fredo says something useful he stops being a brother and becomes a source — Michael goes straight to the investigation. Not the lake. Not the gunshot. This is where it ends. Fredo is asking to finally be seen. Michael stopped looking a long time ago. Which is why "You're nothing to me now" doesn't need volume. It isn't shouted.
