I know this is not even remotely the impressive part here but... your UI is just *chef's kiss*

The craziest part is that the launch time is not impressive either. I didn't have to optimize the startup time, or design substantially around making startup fast, or literally anything like that. You get this kind of performance for free if you program reasonably.

The smooth transitions on jumps are such an extra flex on VS, I love it!

@ongamex92 Yeah honestly I don't really know. I *did a from-scratch build* of RADDBG, which is a pretty big handicap... I have also literally never had VS work instantly. But no matter what, people will make excuses for bad performance, so I think that is just the reality of the situation.

Indeed there's no comparison. Worth mentioning though that the real value VS provides is that the debugger is builtin into the editor you're presumably already writing code in. Most exciting thing for me is raddbg is built from scratch so there's lots of potential for innovating.

Is that.... motion blur on scroll? Or just video recording artifact?

Just compression. The only fancy thing I've done in that neighborhood is frosted glass, because I LOVE FROSTED GLASS:

@Jonathan_Blow Hey don’t diss visual studio. It has to do A LOT more work than RADDBG to launch. It has to load its splash screen, first of all, and… yeah…

Hey! They're "Working on it"!

@bonzajplc Looks great! Does Raddbg use LLDB or similar, or does it implement the debug engine as well? Can I start a debug session from the command line?

@bonzajplc It's all custom; we don't rely on LLDB or anything else like it. Yes, you can auto-launch or auto-step-into your program from the command line.
