Last night the ABC, our $1 billion a year taxpayer funded national broadcaster, implied that One Nation was an illegitimate political party. This morning on Insiders the ABC allowed commentators to declare One Nation was “at its core” “a racist and bigoted” party. The “impartial” ABC failed to challenge or even debate the claim. One Nation has recommended preferencing conservative minor parties first in nearly every seat across the country and in the Senate. But we made a late change in a handful of key electorates. And here is why. Clive Palmer has announced he is preferencing Labor, the Greens and the Teals ahead of conservatives in many seats. He has even recommended preferencing a Muslim Vote candidate. This deeply irresponsible move risks handing the Teals, the Greens or Muslim Vote, extremely dangerous groups, the balance of power. We could not let that happen. I would not let that happen. So I made the call to move the Liberals up on our how-to-vote recommendations in these seats. And I will stand by it. This is not about doing deals. It is about protecting Australia from a Labor-Greens-Teals alliance that would tear down what is left of our industries, our values and our way of life. Let me be clear. Your vote is yours. Today One Nation called on Parliament to urgently debate our Bill that would shut the door on foreign fighters returning to Australia. The safety and security of Australians should be the Parliament's number one priority. Given 13 fighters might be released from Iraqi prison soon, passing legislation that gives government the power they need is more urgent than ever. Labor and the Greens disagreed, and voted against dealing with One Nation's bill urgently. People who left Australia to join the depraved ISIS terrorist cult have been allowed to return, and this Labor government has actively helped them despite saying it would not. These people represent a direct threat to the safety of Australians and the security of this nation. Labor has stood by while two ISIS linked women on serious charges were released into the community on bail. Labor has said they won't assist the return of these 13 men imprisoned in Baghdad, but that's what they said about the so-called ISIS brides they helped to return. We must put in place every possible barrier to prevent their return. One Nation has done its part by drafting this bill to protect Australians.
