Les Grossman was not in the original script for Tropic Thunder (2008). Tom Cruise came up with it. “I read the script. There was a structural compression missing, that keeps the pressure on these guys. I was like, 'You need the studio.'

Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder (2008) is comedy gold. I genuinely couldn’t stop laughing every time Les Grossman appeared on screen — and the first time I watched it, I didn’t even realize it was Tom Cruise. The dancing, the attitude, the oversized hands… pure chaos, and somehow absolutely perfect.

Tropic Thunder is a once in a lifetime thing that is never going to happen again. RDJ (BlackFace) to Tom Lex Grossman Cruise that movie was awesome 🤣🤣 check this out y’all 🫵

Tom Cruise showing up as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder (2008) is still one of the greatest “wait… that’s HIM?” moments in movie history. Nobody saw that performance coming, which made it even funnier when he completely stole the film.

In Jerry Maguire, Cameron Crowe was once told by friends that Tom Cruise would never play a “loser”, but it turned out he wanted a role that was vulnerable. “Tom said, 'I read your script. I hope I'm the right guy. Let me come out and read it for you.'

Tom Holland says he couldn’t get the script for the next Spider-Man movie while everyone else at the studio had already read it. “I was shooting ‘The Odyssey’ with Christopher Nolan.” “I kept blowing up the studio saying, ‘Guys, can I get the Spider-Man script?’” “They kept telling me, ‘It’s not ready. We’ll send it to you when it’s ready.’” Then his brother Paddy called him. “Bro… the script is so good.” “I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’” “He said, ‘I’ve just been at the studio. Everyone’s read the script. Everyone loves it.’” “And I’d been told there wasn’t even a script at this point.” Tom says once he finally read it, he understood why everyone was so excited. “We had amazing writers and they did such a good job.” “They’ve really found a way to make the film about Peter Parker.” “The stakes have never been higher.” “The mystery of who the villain is brings a whole new flavor to the film.” “I’m so proud of everyone that’s involved.”

When Ben Stiller approached Tom Cruise for a small role in Tropic Thunder (2008), Cruise agreed but insisted on fat hairy arms, giant prosthetic hands, and a dance sequence. The cameo became Les Grossman, one of his wildest performances.

The script has been given 🦋: hey have you read the script yet? 🧸: urmmm 🫢🫣 🦋: you read it? 🧸: no hehe, only read one page of it and was sleepy 😂 🦋: we’re like birds of a feather (a saying we’re literally the same). I read like three scenes and was like I need like a long time to read this so– 🧸: so I felt like maybe leave it for tomorrow. But then came today and was like maybe I should do a live, so maybe tomorrow. 😂 #ลีน่าหมิว #LenaMiu

Zendaya reveals how she freaked out when Tom Holland told her about starring in The Odyssey. "He had the script, and I may have taken a little peek. I had to know. He had a Christopher Nolan script in my house, what am I gonna do? So I looked" "Then he went off to his meeting, and when he came home, I was like, 'Okay! Tell me all about it! How was it? What was it like?' You know what I mean? I was so ready, so excited" "And he goes, 'Read this again.' And I was like, 'What? Why? We just read it last night.' He was like, 'Read it again, but with Athena in mind.' And I was like, 'Yo, stop it right there'" "I freaked out. I was so grateful. And the fact that he got to be the one to tell me, it was so special"

Aubrey Plaza explains how a simple script line turned into an unexpectedly awkward masturbation scene on set. "I thought I was doing one thing, and then when I showed up, it was a whole different thing." "In my head I envisioned a nice scene where you just see my hand slowly go out of frame... left to the imagination." "The camera was mounted on the ceiling, I was in my underwear and a Clinton t-shirt, and there were a bunch of old men... crew guys." "I asked the director 'what should I do?' and she said: 'Masturbate, like it says in the script.'" "What a kind directorial note... 'Do it like it says in the script!'"

Matt Damon on 'INTERESTELLAR' script and the complexity of Dr. Mann. "I read the script and I had a very emotional reaction to it because I was the father of young kids at the time. And this idea of a father leaving and missing the lives of their kids was just so terrifying."
