Kano is trending because NNPP talisman Rabiu Kwankwaso has left the party after 2-years. Analysts expect him to join the coalition’s African Democratic Congress, where he’s tipped to be Peter Obi’s running mate in 2027. But Obidients with the trauma and lessons from Nyesom Wike heartbreak in 2022, remain skeptical over his loyalty. Because; despite the strong show from him and Obi in Kano last week. Last year July, Kwankwaso was reportedly on the verge of joining APC after series of reported meetings with Pres. Bola Tinubu. As he was in APC from 2014 to 2018, before returning to PDP, and then NNPP in 2022. However, the show-off in Kano and the public endorsement of Obi by the Kwankwasiya movement has placed Kwankwaso atop the list of prefered Vice Presidential options for Obi to Obidients. In 2023; Tinubu won with 8.7 million votes, Obi had 6.1M, Atiku 6.9M and Kwankwaso 1.4M. With Obi and Atiku Abubakar already in ADC, and Kwankwaso’s popularity, he is considered a vital reinforcement, should he adopt the ADC. “It was not an easy decision to make. As an Obidient in 2023, I know enough to tell you that Peter Obi and his Labour Party rigged heavily in the Southeast through underage voting and mass thumb printing on unused ballot papers. You cannot even dare to vote for APC in the Southeast because you will be seen as an enemy and treated like one. People stand around the thumb printing booths to ensure you are voting for Peter Obi. The Igbos were ruthless in 2023. In Lagos, there was an urge and desire to win at all costs, so there was a massive push that saw many Igbo INEC officials deployed to the state. This gave the Labour Party access to election sensitive materials like ballot booklets. Even if they could not win the election, they just wanted to win Lagos to stamp their claim that “Lagos is a no man’s land.”
