As for what he said, my concern is that these same things you guys have been pushing were exactly what was said under Buhari. We were told that agriculture was the in thing and all that. Less than a year after Buhari left, we were told that Nigeria was almost at the point of crumbling when Tinubu took over. Meanwhile, some of us who complained about the gaps during Buhari's time were called names. Now, let's look at the issue of setting up an SME in Nigeria. Let's say I decided to start farming. I approach a bank to get a loan. I am asked to provide all manner of documentation and collateral. The lending interest rate is between 19% and 40%. If I am lucky enough to get the loan at that exorbitant interest rate, I have to start praying that bandits or kidnappers allow me to access the land and do the actual farming. If I eventually am able to do it, my next prayer is to make sure that no one doing his own cattle-rearing business takes his cattle into my farm to eat it up. The challenges go on and on. Mind you, in some decent societies, one can get a loan at a rate of 6% to 25% without collateral or all the stress people go through in Naija. The problem is when people like you and Linus downplay the underlying issues and gaslight people unnecessarily. Fix the issues, and watch Nigerians make the best of these things.
