That’s not the correct way to do it though. You would never use your thumb. You would simply insert a new magazine, and then use your palm to tap the slide release. There’s no reason to reach over with your hand like that. And it wouldn’t sound like it did in the movie either.

You’re right, she is thumbing the bolt release. And although the AR is pretty great, the bolt release is so awkward on an AR, there is an entire subset of products built to deal with it.

I’ve never seen anyone use that retarded ass method to release the bolt before. Usually it's palm slap or a thumb press without inverting your whole hand. But it looks like that’s what she did, so technically correct.
