You should be able to find more support weapons during the missions. If you don't want to take a support weapon then you can get one in the mission but you're at the mercy of RNG.

Yes. By their own design stratagems should be used to kill big targets and the stalwart can't kill armored targets.

It is a primary in hd1, and its light armor piercing only, so it does nothing to any enemy with medium armor or better. Yes, it should be a primary to deal with chaff so you can bring a stratagem weapon that is better for medium and heavy targets.

Stalwart kinda is a glorified primary. I pair it with eruptor or crossbow, but even that isn't a great combo when you compare it to a better support weapon. Eruptor pre nerf with Stalwart was 🔥
