That last statement seals it all. “You can give the Arabians some Yoruba names and see how they pronounce it” Perfect!

Reason why Yoruba should consider teaching not only language in Yoruba but also in all subjects including science, biology, physics, and mathematics. Many young people feel stressed by English, which is one of the reasons some don’t want to go to school. They struggle to understand subjects taught in a language that is difficult for them. We should consider teaching all subjects in Yoruba, as it would make the learning experience more practical. Japanese educators teach all subjects in Japanese and teaches English in English. that’s why they are very smart because they learn all subject in Japanese .

My father explained this to me when I was just 6 years old, and it made perfect sense. Cherish your heritage. There's none like YORUBA❤️

Great explanation with real and good information. This is an excellent way to convey to Africans (especially the Yoruba) how and why names from their own culture should be used, without the need to disparage or speak negatively about the West, and even less with any intent of victimization.

You are so very correct. I once had a white friend who couldn't pronounce my name, as simple as Yinka is, she couldn't pronounce it, instead she called me Inky. To us that's funky but the yorubas own are bad. Our tongues are not same so also our pronunciations. Wa Sere
