Equally, an intervening parent who understands the game can help a player’s development just as much as a good coach can. I agree, with some of the other comments that this isn’t black and white. For me, the journey is as much the parent’s as it is the player’s. The sacrifices, the long journeys to training and games, the ups, the downs etc.. Why not educate parents so that they’re singing off the same hymn-sheet as the coaches rather than simply telling them to be quiet? 🤷🏾‍♂️

I totally agree with the “Let them play” solution however no one can deny that skips, technical development and tactical development can’t be improved. I disagree that a player will get to the level that they are intended to reach because many more complexities go into this such as Geography, if this was the case what’s the need in Academies then? what’s the point in scaffolding a players development of this is the case. However players having fun is correct. Non pressured environments should be a key ingredient. Too many complexities and people will listen to this & interpret it wrongly. This method would have never brought us (in other domains) The Williams Sister in Tennis.

@LUFC There seems to be some confusion as to what “Let them play” means. Let them play means, give players the freedom to explore, make mistakes, discover, with guidance. Rather than giving players the answers, collaborate with them to attain it?

@LUFC My old man never once let me just play and still doesn't and i wouldn't have it any other way. Always honest. Praise when its due criticise when neccesary. But always fair. He's the only one whose opinion i wanted to imress always.

@LUFC If this is Sunday football played for enjoyment then fine but if this is actual Leeds academy then no wonder the 1st team got relegated

@LUFC What a great guy is Woody,been at #lufc over 20 years now,seen it all at Academy level,and has overseen in his time some of the best footballers in the UK.
