Thursday March 19, 2026, 3:00 PM: The water vapor satellite shows an unforgiving 594 DM high-pressure axis that has firmly become anchored over Los Angeles, California to Phoenix, Arizona. This historic March heatwave is breaking records not seen over 100 years in Los Angeles and is the earliest 100-degree day for Phoenix, Arizona of the season. This amplified blocking pattern will keep Hawaii in flood territory while the southwestern U.S bakes at least until March 31, 2026, due to how strong the ridging has been this week. Possibly another ridge development next week. Simultaneously, a new low-pressure axis approximately 145 miles due west of Oahu has developed and will bring new rounds of rainfall and possibly flooding concerns. The extremes are fueled by the ongoing warming of the Pacific Ocean, which could be something that could have interesting ramifications in the next few months for both Hawaii, Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the Midwest. #CAwx #heatwave #flood #hawaii

It’s quiet - now - as we head into peak season, but that may change soon. The Atlantic has been under large scale sinking, crushing tropical development. But rising air from the Pacific is rounding the bend, and heading into the Atlantic in the coming weeks. That will cause favorable conditions for hurricanes to develop especially by mid September, but there’s a wave moving off Africa right now with a good chance of development later this week/weekend. The hope is that strong cold fronts in the US will block these Atlantic storms from reaching the US. Stay tuned. (Hurricane pictured is merely an illustration, not a real storm) #fyp # hurricane

Big dawg El Niño coming this summer and fall! This is a bit science-y… but easy I promise. So follow along. You are looking at a vertical cross section of the tropical Pacific Ocean at the Equator with depth downward deep into the ocean. Left side is west near Asia. Right side is east near South America. It’s where we measure El Niño, the king control knob of the climate. One main way we know it’s coming is “subsurface heat”. See the dark red shades moving east under the surface and rising upward? That’s the El Niño developing! El Niño is a build up of hotter than normal water on the surface Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean. What’s cool (or hot) is that the water comes from the West Tropical Pacific. During cool La Niña years it’s like a piggy bank. The West Pacific hoards and stores the heat near Asia. Then every couple-few years that warm water sloshes back East. It first appears under the surface where we measure it. It surfaces in late spring and El Niño grows in Summer to fall. You can tell by the magnitude of warm subsurface water that this looks like a biggie! So how will it impact us? For one, it typically subdues Atlantic hurricane season. That doesn’t mean no storms - just less active than it would have otherwise been. Also it releases lots of Heat… so it super charges heat waves around the planet and floods too - it all tends to be more immense and intense. And you can bet Earth will experience its hottest days on record coming later 2026 into 2027. El Niño is one of the biggest climate forces on Earth and it has a profound impact on world-wide weather because of all the heat released into the atmosphere from the ocean.

It’s a renowned oceanfront restaurant with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean that has been open since 1941. 🤯 Guests can enjoy dining with dramatic views of crashing waves, especially during high tide. 😳 I don’t think I could feel at ease chowing down at dinner with those waves hitting the glass like that. I’d be waiting for Jaws to come crashing through. 💯😂 Have you ever experienced anything like this? Something to note here for Vancouver's Rainfall in July 2026. This is simply what a normal July actually is for us over here weather wise. It's just been 10 years since we have last seen a normal July for Rainfall. July 2026 has had nothing extreme, nothing abnormal. Just that this is what statistically a normal Vancouver July is weather wise for Rainfall. The only ENSO phase that is consistent with us having wetter than average Rainfall in July seems to be Super El Nino's, or either coming off or heading into one like in 2026. 1982: Well above average Rainfall in July 1997: Well above average Rainfall in July 2016: Slightly above average Rainfall in July 2026: Slightly above average Rainfall in July You want to blame something, blame El Nino for our good fortune in Vancouver this July. #bcstorm #shareyourweather

This Is happening in Kerrville, Texas, the Guadalupe River, again, Kerr County and the surrounding Hill Country cities and counties. Just over a year ago the devastating floods took 119 lives in Kerr County alone, including all those beautiful young ladies at Camp Mystic. And now, it’s like the flooding is happening all over again. In some areas the water rose over 16 feet overnight. So far, one death has been reported. Governor Abbott has declared a state of disaster for 59 counties. Keep the Texas Hill Country in your prayers. Many people still haven’t recovered or gotten over the nightmare from a year ago, let alone having to deal with it again one year later. Stay strong my fellow Texans. 🙏 What are the chances that a 100 year flood hits two years in a row almost exactly a year a part?

Without any consultation with our community, a decision was made to raise the flag of the terrorist and criminal “Republic of Kosovo” at Daley Plaza. This is an occupied territory that remains deeply painful for the Serbian people as this land is the centerpiece of our religion, culture and identity. So, my opinion on what the Antarctic (Antarctica) Anomaly is that it's a type of frequency technology. It must be way more powerful than HAARP, as many have claimed it to be, because we would see these anomalies at other HAARP sites, and we don't, not like this. With that said, and I'm very much trying to avoid letting what I want it to be not play a part here, I think it is a technology that is being used either off the coast of Antarctica itself or Bouvet Island. A third possibility is an area just to the northwest of the island that looks odd. It's possible it is a sonar scan from a ship, but why in that remote location? It looks like an antenna set up or rows of something that is out of place. I also believe that the weather events and fires that have taken place in Africa could possibly have been because of this. Each time we saw the anomaly, it was followed by a destructive weather event in Africa. A weird connection to that is we have been told and warned of a very busy 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. This is in part because of the above-average Atlantic ocean temperatures, which is the fuel to Hurricanes. With all this info, it's possible to see how the Anomaly could be a frequency tech that can manipulate or create weather, And or WARM up the Ocean temps to purposely enhance the Hurricane season and Storm growth. Keep in mind that many of our hurricanes and many of the biggest hurricanes have come from the west coast of Africa and form over the Cape Verde islands before heading towards the Caribbean and the United States. This is all of course speculation, and I'm learning many new things every day, so this idea may morph over time as we learn more. Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours: Oman lane is active? Over the last 7 days, Kpler tracked 18 tankers exiting the Strait of Hormuz, 5 related to Iran. Average volume of 1.861 million b/d. In the video from MarineTraffic, you can see that at the beginning, there was a bulk carrier called Supra Baron that tried going through the Oman lane and then turning around. A few vessels took the Iran lane shortly after. But more interestingly, as I'm writing this post, there are two tankers that are about to go through the Oman lane: Rotterdam Energy, a VLCC, and Gaslog Shanghai, an LNG tanker. Rotterdam Energy turned off its AIS about an hour ago, so it's in the process of transiting now. Is the Oman lane active again? Or will IRGC enforce control again? If IRGC makes a move, then all the bombing the US did was create temporary enforcement vacuums in place for tankers to transit. This is clearly unsustainable in the long-run. I guess we will find out soon enough.

The reason for this is that: Young people in the US know that the fighting reflexes of experienced middle-aged men are far more dangerous. A young person might yell or be unable to defend themselves, but a 40-year-old man might hit and break things. This is instinctively known. Because US sociology has changed a lot. White people born after 2000 or in the late 90s are no longer growing up with a fighting culture, a street culture. Previously, white people fought everywhere – in bars, on the streets, at school, in the military – or they learned the taboo of masculinity very strictly. The current generation is different. The modernized world weakens developing societies.

‡ Judging Firm Ground Turf Action Friday's 8th race is the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. I've chosen this race not because it will necessarily present a good betting opportunity, but rather a good illustration of how I go about predicting whether horses which haven't yet raced on firm turf are likely to handle it well. In the U.S., handicappers typically look through the lens from the other side, meaning that as the vast majority of turf races are contested over firm (or hard) courses, predicting which horses may handle the odd soft ground race is the challenge. But when horses travel from Europe to the U.S., relatively few have shown form over anything like the firm ground typically found in the States, and not all of them adapt equally well. There are four European runners in the race. Balantina was beaten just a nose in a Group III race in France over a course rated firm, and her action appears consistent with a horse that should handle even firmer going. Precise, the 6/5 program favorite, has also won over relatively firm surfaces, and shows a good action. She'll need to overcome a very bad draw, but is clearly the best horse in the race on form. This brings us to the two fillies that I'll use to illustrate contrasting action. Broadly speaking, horses that are well-suited to firm surfaces show a fluid, lower-to-the-ground action, while those which often prove best on softer surfaces display a rounder, or what is sometimes referred to as "knee" action. Pacific Mission has run only three times. Her two races on turf were contested over ground that was much softer than what she will face at Del Mar. But her third race was at Kempton, over an all-weather surface, and the attached clip (below, on the left), was taken from that race. She is the one in front, with the rider wearing the iconic pink, white and green Juddmonte silks. As you should be able to see, Pacific Mission shows a good, fluid action, which implies that she is likely to adapt well to the Del Mar turf. Whether she, and her rider, Colin Keane, will be able to overcome the 12 post, and prove good enough to win or place, are different matters. Queen of Hawaii, trained by Aidan O'Brien's son Joseph, will break from post 2. She also has three starts to date, but unlike Pacific Mission, has yet to race over anything like firm ground. While all three of her races were over ground rated "good", that rating in Ireland is typically, I would say, equivalent to what would be labeled a "yielding" course in the U.S. That each of her last two races, both over a mile, were run no faster than 1:41 4/5, helps to illustrate the point. The clip of her most recent run (below, on the right), was taken from her Group III win at The Curragh in August. She is the horse tracking three wide (#5), in dark blue silks. Note how she picks up her knees, as that it the type of action that is more often associated with horses that prefer give in the ground. To be clear, some horse that display such action do "act" on firmer surfaces, as well, and presumably her trainer is optimistic that Queen of Hawaii will adapt. But the contrast between her action, and that of Pacific Mission, provides a good illustration of the basic differences. ‡ Judging Firm Ground Turf Action Friday's 8th race is the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. I've chosen this race not because it will necessarily present a good betting opportunity, but rather a good illustration of how I go about predicting whether horses which haven't yet raced on firm turf are likely to handle it well. In the U.S., handicappers typically look through the lens from the other side, meaning that as the vast majority of turf races are contested over firm (or hard) courses, predicting which horses may handle the odd soft ground race is the challenge. But when horses travel from Europe to the U.S., relatively few have shown form over anything like the firm ground typically found in the States, and not all of them adapt equally well. There are four European runners in the race. Balantina was beaten just a nose in a Group III race in France over a course rated firm, and her action appears consistent with a horse that should handle even firmer going. Precise, the 6/5 program favorite, has also won over relatively firm surfaces, and shows a good action. She'll need to overcome a very bad draw, but is clearly the best horse in the race on form. This brings us to the two fillies that I'll use to illustrate contrasting action. Broadly speaking, horses that are well-suited to firm surfaces show a fluid, lower-to-the-ground action, while those which often prove best on softer surfaces display a rounder, or what is sometimes referred to as "knee" action. Pacific Mission has run only three times. Her two races on turf were contested over ground that was much softer than what she will face at Del Mar. But her third race was at Kempton, over an all-weather surface, and the attached clip (below, on the left), was taken from that race. She is the one in front, with the rider wearing the iconic pink, white and green Juddmonte silks. As you should be able to see, Pacific Mission shows a good, fluid action, which implies that she is likely to adapt well to the Del Mar turf. Whether she, and her rider, Colin Keane, will be able to overcome the 12 post, and prove good enough to win or place, are different matters. Queen of Hawaii, trained by Aidan O'Brien's son Joseph, will break from post 2. She also has three starts to date, but unlike Pacific Mission, has yet to race over anything like firm ground. While all three of her races were over ground rated "good", that rating in Ireland is typically, I would say, equivalent to what would be labeled a "yielding" course in the U.S. That each of her last two races, both over a mile, were run no faster than 1:41 4/5, helps to illustrate the point. The clip of her most recent run (below, on the right), was taken from her Group III win at The Curragh in August. She is the horse tracking three wide (#5), in dark blue silks. Note how she picks up her knees, as that it the type of action that is more often associated with horses that prefer give in the ground. To be clear, some horse that display such action do "act" on firmer surfaces, as well, and presumably her trainer is optimistic that Queen of Hawaii will adapt. But the contrast between her action, and that of Pacific Mission, provides a good illustration of the basic differences. And setting aside all other handicapping variables, horses with fluid action are more likely to excel over firm surfaces than those with a pronounced knee action.

Weekend Storm Update Despite what you might have heard… I am STILL tracking the potential for a significant snow event this weekend. If it happens, the snow would arrive Sunday afternoon/evening. Model Guidance has been all over the place but I’ve been fairly consistent with my message: This looks like a Miller B Nor’Easter. Miller B storms typically have a mix line that sets up along I-78/I-80 in eastern PA and NJ. The European Model suggests that mix changes over to heavy snow as this storm strengthens. Whether or not that actually happens is pure speculation at this point. There are some non-linear processes that need to go exactly correct for this storm to produce significant snow. Whether you are a random person on X or Elon Musk, I urge you all to please read this post and stop using videos like this one to claim that Biden has an "open border policy": #1) The people in this video are already on American soil. The agents have a few options here. Detain them behind the razor wire or detain them in front of it, let the children cut themselves on razor wire or make sure they don't get cut. #2) In May President Biden issued an "asylum ban" which barred migrants from applying for humanitarian protection if they cross the border against the law or fail to first apply for safe harbor while crossing through another country on the way to the U.S. The US COURTS OVERTURNED IT. Biden also requested $3.5B for more border patrol agents and judges and lawyers. Republicans refused. #3) Let me explain to you all why the people in this video can't simply be put on a truck and driven back into Mexico and dropped off: a - They have a right to due process according to our Constitution. b - There are international laws indicating that we can't just drop people off from Honduras or Cuba or any other nation into Mexico. What if one of these people claimed they were from Canada? Should we drop them in Canada? c - How do we immediately prove that a person is not an American, or an Italian, or a Brazilian if they claim they are? Stop pretending that Biden isn't doing anything. Stop pretending that the immigration problem is simple. Stop pretending that this has not been a problem for decades. Understand that the surge of migrants isn't the fault of Biden but actually global geopolitical upheaval in Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and other nations. Instead of pointing fingers and claiming that "Biden has an open border policy," when his policy is not much different than those we have had for the last 40 years, how about working together on comprehensive reform? So before you make another Tweet claiming Biden has an Open Border Policy, how about instead you provide actual solutions that are LEGAL, that should be implemented.
