I didn’t like any of these reframes The Marvel logo was really creative but it’s too sleek and loses that iconic boldness that Marvel is known for The Gatorade logo was too abstract, for me, you were trying too hard to incorporate the lightning into the letter G to the point the G lost its shape, if I saw that logo for the first time I wouldn’t think the logo is showing a G As for the citi logo, the arch is not meant to represent the dots on the i’s, it’s meant to have the t and the arch represent an umbrella that has you covered. It’s a representation of safety, so the i’s are shown underneath the umbrella, which makes sense, whereas your heart feels mores derived from the current modus operandi

I’ve only seen two of your videos, but in 5 of the 6 logos, you made them much less legible, even if they’re more theme-driven. Like the Gatorade looks like an O, not a G. And both Marvel and Citi lose distinctiveness in exchange for a bit of performative symmetry

Sometimes you have to sacrifice a bit of legibility to gain memorability. All art is a balance of form versus function. Some of the most beautiful furniture is the most uncomfortable furniture. And the most comfortable furniture is downright ugly. I’m shifting the overall relationship between form and function in these marks. Also keep in mind these are experiments. I’m trying new things and taking risks. If you’re not enjoying the content, don’t follow. If you do, enjoy it and stick around and watch the show. 🧡✌️

@TheChrisLambert You’re kind to reply to him. If he were creating, he’d do his own work. You’re creating.

@AllanPeters I am creating and do my own work.

Is Marvel selling overpriced anti-virus software now?

I cannot tell a lie. I love these videos. That being said. I HATE ALL 3 OF THESE!

1. Marvel logo, no go. Recognized at a glance even in isolation. 2. Gatorade, go. Brilliant! 3. Citi Bank, go.

For the first time ever, I don't agree with you on the Marvel logo. It couldn't capture the impact that the original does.

Which fix do you like best?

I prefer the original Marvel logo. It’s a classic and it stands for a time in history where people LOVED COMICS. These are heroes and personalities that we look up to as role models and for moral values. I like the update, but I personally just like what the 1st stands for.

AI has nothing on this kind of talent.

All three should be crawling to your office! The creative thinking behind your reasoning is just simple and makes sense!

The Citi heart was genius Allan. Wow

the Marvel one is really smart but it feels tonally a bit off to me. The current logo has that simple boldness that represents the boldness of the Marvel stories/characters. Gatorade is a huge improvement but doesn't really change the game for me Citi logo is a work of genius.

I like change but none of these are improvements, sorry. Create a brand that’s as recognizable and then someone can “fix” that.

I think you have a great understanding of shapes and geometry, but all of the "fixed" version look generic af

Think the lightining bolt should be split in two because the G got lost in that

Marvel is perfect. The font is inspired by the font in the word bubbles. It’s fast, inspired by old printed comics.

.@AllanPeters what are your thoughts on the $GME logo? My friend @janeumayet and I were curious! Thanks in advance.

The Citi heart is cool, but when turned on its normal angle, the letters feel too squished, almost like a novice designer used a condensed typeface because they thought it was cool. It just doesn't feel balanced because of this.

Your version of the citi logo looks stiff compared to the original. Prefect symmetry and alignment aren't always the best choices

They all actually look worse

I thought I liked Citi the least but I think it was the best with the heart

Some of these are nice and neat, but they lack unique personality. Before you changed the marvel and Gatorade logos they felt completely different, afterwards they look like they’re part of the same font or group. Maybe it’s because you’re doing them all and therefore they’re connected by you

Both the Gatorade and Citi ones are different enough that they would initially be panned by brand fans that are used to the old, much like when Honda or Toyota change the exterior lines on their popular models, though after a year of getting used to them, they’d be universally accepted as better. The Citi heart was a stroke of genius.

Formulaic to the point of being lost — and problematic. Simplicity isn't always the right thing. Your Marvel logo looks like Monster Jobs logo. It's also just boring Your Gatorade logo loses what makes it distinctive The umbrella is meant to cover the I'd not be the dots

No hate but everything you touch turns to shit Its like midas but with shit instead of gold

DC did something like this about 10-15 years ago with the “DC sticker,” which was supposed to mimic a page turning. Everyone hated it.

Just simple version☺️

Dude. I dig watching your stuff. Keep up the great work.

marvel is one of those companies that has a forever logo once they've established themselves as a brand. aint broke, don't fix

How would you fix this?

Marvel was amazing- Citi redo was unimpressive. It doesn’t have the story to it and has no heart connection. Btw, for ppl wanting to read the Citi logo story. 👇

The red curve and the curve on the lower case “t” is supposed to be an umbrella and its handle, representing the incorporation of the same umbrella logo of Traveler’s Insurance, which Citi acquired in 1998. The umbrella extends beyond the two “I” bc it is protecting them.

"Episode 274 of making every company look like a tech startup"

Certain logos don’t need fixing. This is an issue we have that we think everything needs updating. It’d be stupid to update the marvel one, it’s timeless, the Gatorade one does its job. If we did this everything would go the way of the printed logo

These feel like design for design's sake. Marvel's existing logo, as simple as it is, is already recognizable, and changing it to an M/book logo you can find on every stock graphics website only anonymizes it further
