LET'S GET REAL... anti-litter signs are virtually useless at preventing littering. Large fines (£1,000+) AND compulsory enforcement by Councils WILL make a difference. At the moment, 72% of Councils don't enforce the law. We live in a state of 'litter-anarchy'.

What's required is to get in people's faces. Increased fines won't do a thing. * Regular litter shaming broadcasts on TV and radio * Daytime closure of highway lanes for litter picking

Putting up signs like that has always been a complete waste of time and money. Because, at the end of the day, no one is going to catch those who dump litter in the first place! What is really needed is proper surveillance of areas like that, which would be so much better!!!

Yeah, and a lot of this "litter-anarchy" was stimulated by one Grocer's Daughter, who said to everybody, "Do what you want and stuff everyone else!" Hence, this country is now full of so many people who think they simply do what they want, and they don't care about consequences!

The evidence is all around Costa, McDonald's, Greggs, Red Bull,Monster, Walkers, Coke Cola, Buxton, KFC and Lucozade so fine those buggers instead fines passed on to consumers eventually, maybe they can print on their packaging why the price is 50p more.

There’s a regular fly tipping spot near me - Gledhow Lane on Little Switzerland - more rubbish appeared the other day. @LeedsCC_News could put up a camera to catch & fine them. One massive fine would easily cover the cost & deter others. Why don’t they?

Agreed. From the retail sector doorsteps outwards no one is monitoring or enforcing #litter legislation on public or private land. + Over reliance on volunteers & I'm one.

Hunters are capable of all sorts including dumping buckets full of hot puppies on your doorstep 😞 We had a call from Colleen asking if we could help. We are pretty over run with puppies but this will be our last litter for the moment until all are vaccinated and thru the dangerous parvo risks. This is such a risky time for pups and this is our 6th litter at present at GDS! Update soon 😔 Oh, and sadly dumped with no mum!
