LET’S GOO! ✈️ xPortal

Now that the team is publicly addressing it… Here’s my honest take on the MultiversX community feedback and concerns related to xPortal, which I partially share. First, I love the multichain vision. I love having such a great wallet like xPortal (which is one of the best, by far) where I can use my favorite chain (MultiversX), but also other chains that I like (Sui) or chains that I might need to use at one point (Solana, Ethereum, BNB…). I totally understand and agree with the business decision to support more chains, attract more users, and be this significant airport serving many airlines, as you said. However, what felt weird in these past few days, is that xPortal account and team deliberately stopped mentioning, engaging with, and somehow supporting the MultiversX ecosystem and community. But not only MvX. All the other chains, too — focusing solely on Sui. MvX took a harder hit because it is xPortal largest user base, afaik (or was) and a community that played a key role in making xPortal what xPortal is today, through battle-testing it, voluntarily promoting it (no paid KOLs needed at some extent), and etc. And suddenly, xPortal shifted from what was a beautiful multichain vision (communication and marketing-wise), to a Sui-only focus. Using your example, it was like the airport suddenly started promoting only one airline, or using gates from other airlines to serve this single one airline, only talking about it, and so on. Therefore, I don’t think the community was annoyed by xPortal supporting other chains. It has happened before (Ethereum, BNB, Solana, Berachain…) and this was never an issue. The issue was xPortal, communication-wise in the past ~2 weeks, becoming a Sui-only wallet and deliberately avoiding talking about MultiversX and other chains it supports. I have also seen team members mentioning this was a “trojan horse”, which, honestly (and sorry about the honesty), I don’t think works as expected (if this is really what was expected). Sui users won’t start using MultiversX just because xPortal is originally a MultiversX wallet. The most likely thing to happen is that they will be even more convinced on how great Sui is, considering the “originally MultiversX wallet” is now so strongly supporting and promoting Sui, while not doing the same to MvX. And MvX users could even question their choices and change their focus for Sui altogether, if blindly following xPortal. This may be easier to understand if thinking on the opposite series of events. Imagine a Sui wallet adds MultiversX, stops talking about Sui and only highlighted EGLD for the past 2 weeks? MultiversX community would have their bias validates and would be unlikely to consider using Sui after that. Phantom Wallet never stopped mentioning Solana, while implementing other chains, again using your example. So, please, keep supporting Sui (it is a great chain and community), keep supporting the other chains xPortal already has, keep adding more chains to the basket; but, PLEASE, find a balance with each of the target audiences and user bases you have, and don’t forget (communication-wise) the MultiversX ecosystem that supported you guys so much in the past few years. Also, I would love to see more MultiversX improvements in the roadmap. Like Guardians covering multi-accounts. All that said, I really love your work, vision, passion, and contributions. And I, again, love that you acknowledged the community feedback was fair. With you all the best! Thanks for the open message.

Sometimes communication has to be very focused. A big launch in a new ecosystem requires a lot of focus & interaction w the community. At Sui’s b-day party, we all sing them happy b-day. At MVX’s, we’ll do it for MvX. Mkt & comms can’t make everyone happy at the same time.

@xPortalApp Good thoughts, great vibe. I would suggest focusing on integrating blockchains with massive communities and lower tech, this way they will be more prone to come over to @MultiversX Examples: Cardano and DOT.
