Instead of things getting slightly better for each year, things will become slightly worse for each year. However, the City of Johannesburg must supply an authentic copy, valid as at the relevant dates (from 2010 onwards). Assuming that my copy is authentic, the following is of relevance: 1. The thrust of the SCPM:L is to ensure that the Johannesburg land is disposed of in a fair and transparent manner. 2. “Available vacant land” is defined in the SCMP:L as “land not necessary to provide minimum municipal services, including but not limited to gardens, parks and similar facilities…..” 3. Section 7 (2) (a), which provides that the accounting officer (the Municipal Manager of Johannesburg) may not delegate his or her power and duty to make an award exceeding R 10 million; 4. I have often asked teachers, would you want to be a learner in your own classroom, but the question above for administrators could be even more critical. If we do not support those closest to students every day in an effective manner, it is much harder for things to improve in schools. If we want learning to look different in classrooms, then leadership must also evolve. This doesn’t mean that everything done in the past has been wrong. Some things that mattered 50 years ago will matter now, both in learning and leadership. But replicating everything that was done in the past, whether it was effective or not, isn’t a great strategy for moving schools forward. I was blessed to learn from some amazing principals in my career, but I also learned about things that I hated as a teacher and swore that I would do my best not to replicate those strategies. I wrote this in my upcoming book co-authored with Allyson Apsey (Allyson Apsey) titled, “What Makes a Great Principal”: “If we do things in our schools and classrooms that were done hundreds of years ago that still work today, we should continue to do them. On the other hand, if we do new stuff just because it is new, but it doesn’t work, we shouldn’t be doing it. Whatever works for our community is where our focus should be, no matter when it originated.” What worked in the past? What would you change? One thing I've had a hard time understanding is how and why so many people on the left have gone from respecting Elon Musk to seemingly hating him over the course of just 2 years. Hear me out please and provide your thoughts below... Musk definitely has some conservative views, and he most definitely has said some controversial and inappropriate things, but we must remember that Elon is also a huge proponent of what many Democrats have been pushing so hard for when it comes to climate change and the environment (example: see clip from a TED interview below). Tesla and Space X have so much potential for the planet and for humanity, as do Elon's concerns and visions of the future. Elon has his own beliefs, just like we all do. And just like I disagree whole-heartedly with so many opinions that my Republican friends' have, that doesn't mean I can't be friends with them and I can't share my thoughts with them. When we work together on finding common ground, and on discussing opinions and facts, that's when we as a people make progress. Isn't that what most of those on the left want? This doesn't mean we should stop calling out misinformation or begin accepting conspiracy theories as facts. It merely means working with humanity to make the human experience better and freer for us all.

some words : i wanted to create something referential to Mexico City, Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli and the culture. i kept finding myself reading about cenotes (sinkholes). i loved the idea of exploring cenotes as a subject. sudden, massive drops right in the middle of solid ground. in mayan mythology, they were literal gateways to xibalba, the underworld. that’s where the title comes from. for the ancients, falling into that darkness meant crossing over into the realm of gods and myth. today, we’re all just nomads wandering an endless, hypersaturated landscape of information. we pace in circles, fully suited up for a daily routine of infinite impulses. but instead of sacred underground rivers, the voids we face now are just massive black holes where our time goes to die. they are the endless scrolls, the digital rabbit holes, the mindless distractions where we willingly dump hours of our lives. the prompt asks what carries enough meaning to become myth in an age of infinite information. maybe it’s not some grand story or hero. maybe our modern myth is the void itself, this collective, shared experience of sleepwalking through life, constantly getting swallowed by the things that waste our time. the art is a 1:50 video (100mb), made using procreate, midjourney for model generation, after effects, and a combination of two of my dumb vfx robots. on the score - i wrestled with the composition of the music for some time. it was important that the music met the theme - dark, but hopeful, ominous at times, but also left the listener with a feeling of something deeper but unexplained. a heartfelt thank you to Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, Jared_poz: 8NAP Founder, 8NAP ART and SuperchiefGalleryNFT for including me in what is now my first museum exhibition. edition of 100 - releasing tomorrow. link to follow. ➕

America violated the freedom of the natives in order to build the freest nation in history. According to Machiavelli, this is not hypocrisy; this is necessity. Be it Rome, Ancient Israel, or Persia, all great nations are founded by ruthlessness: there is no other way. This is the interpretation of the great Machiavelli scholar Leo Strauss who writes: “America owes her greatness not only to her habitual adherence to the principles of freedom and justice, but also to her occasional deviation from them. [Machiavelli] would not hesitate to suggest a mischievous interpretation… of the fate of the Red Indians… there cannot be a great and glorious society without the equivalent of the murder of Remus by his brother Romulus.” Strauss brings in Machiavelli to combat two dominant views on America’s founding. The right wants to whitewash and hide this founding murder: they blame disease; they point to how “backward” the natives were; they want this period of history hidden in textbooks to preserve America’s pristine moral image. The left, on the other hand, seeks to expose and guilt: they tear down statues; denounce their ancestors; and want this injustice seared into the minds of each American. For Machiavelli, both sides are equally misguided, and for the exact same reason. The right buries its head in the sand and ignores the brutality. The left implicitly assumes that it could have been otherwise: that you can build your shining city on a hill, preserve the original city, while everyone sings kumbaya. Both voices are afraid to own up to the true cost of freedom. Machiavelli writes: “there is no secure mode to possess [a city] other than to ruin them. And whoever becomes patron of a city accustomed to living free and does not destroy it, should expect to be destroyed by it.” It is tough and ruthless men, willing to violate their deepest principles, who get you to a state of strength where you can actually realize those principles. As the saying goes, tough men make peaceful times. But Machiavelli thinks that people living in peace tend to forget this. Because peaceful times are so easy, you delude yourself into thinking that toughness was never needed. So you either whitewash like the right or denounce like the left. Peaceful times make weak men. And so, to not let weak men make tough times, Machiavelli’s role as teacher is to constantly remind you of the treachery of founding and the true cost of politics. If he were writing a textbook on American history it would be filled with acts of America’s ruthlessness — not to be denounced but to be imitated — just as his books are filled with ruthless Roman leaders for his fellow Italians to learn from. In this lecture, you will learn about the terrifying things you need to do to build a free, equal, and lawful society. And, as always, I will withhold my own opinion and critiques for the end after a charitable reconstruction.
