Folks are asking about this play from the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers. This was ruled Riley Greene reaching on a fielder's choice with the runner Kevin McGonigle safe at second on the error (and he eventually went to third). This is scored correctly, as this is an ordinary effort play by the second baseman Andrew Velazquez, who just has to catch an easy bouncing grounder and step on second. There is no way this is a double, and a hit an any shape or form. This is a really easy, ordinary effort play for the second baseman. #FountainsUp #RepDetroit

Here is the play you are asking about from the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates game, and this is correctly scored as just an RBI pop out and not a sacrifice fly. The only way you have a sacrifice fly caught by an infielder is if that infielder is running into the outfield. Here, Griffin is parallel, he is not running into the outfield. Yes, he is in the outfield, but running into the outfield means running away from home plate, and that is not the case here. Abrams does get an RBI for this, but it is not a sacrifice fly. #NATITUDE #LetsGoBucs

Here, with Workman on second, Zach McKinstry hits a fly to left that lands, and Workman is thrown out 7-5 at third base. This was ruled a single, and the question has been asked as to why. First, this is the correct scoring, as this is a single. If this were a ground ball to short, and the runner is out 6-5 at third on a ball that would have otherwise been a hit, this would have been a fielder's choice, and the difference is in the wording on rule 9.05(b)(3), which says that you do not score a hit when a: (3) pitcher, the catcher or any infielder handles a batted ball and puts out a preceding runner who is attempting to advance one base or to return to his original base, or would have put out such runner with ordinary effort except for a fielding error. The Official Scorer shall charge the batter with a time at bat but no hit; The key is in the McKinstry play, the ball is handled by an outfielder, and not the pitcher, catcher, or any infielder. Another one of those fun weird scoring rules that is great to have in your back pocket for when it comes up.

Triolo doesn't make an attempt at the runner going to second, so it cannot be a fielder's choice, and the struggle to get the ball out of his glove isn't an error unless there is a complete loss of contact/bobble with air, and I don't see that either, and Happ then beat out the play at first. I don't see where the error is because Happ is on the base before the ball gets to first. There is an error for the advancements after the bad throw, but I have a single and not an assumed out here.

This was ruled a single and an error, but Stott has the ball, sets, throws, and shorts it to first, and if the throw is there Jordan Walker is out. There is just no way this stays as a single. This is very much (IMHO) an ordinary effort play here by Bryson Stott. This will get changed to an error, I'm certain of it. #STLCards #RingTheBell

🔴 The violent treatment of the police seems to be without a red line in Pakistan, where there is no difference between a man & a woman, as in these shameful scenes in which an elderly woman is dragged & her hejab is removed in a way that doesn’t respect religion or morality. Why is this tension & why did people gather but reacted negatively, as if they were an audience in a wrestling ring ?! This is a shameful scene that must be condemned & the police held accountable as well.

UPDATE The man in the video has now come forward and provided the following video to explain what he brought into Mitch Sylvester's store. Information that I have received includes - He avoided calls from the RCMP for several weeks - He left the store with the item - He is claiming it was just a misunderstanding - The RCMP still has an open investigation - Charges could still be filed - There was one item, not two as previously reported If this was infact the item he brought into the store along with his "This is for Mitch" message, this is hands down the dumbest thing anyone can do to the employees of the store, and to Mitch directly. There still is an active investigation as showing staff a bullet, or a pen that looks like a bullet, uttering a threat, and not responding to the RCMP for weeks, is still grounds for criminal charges. Thank you to the dozens of people who did recognize the man, and provided tips.
