Ted, find the $24 billion CA can’t account for on homeless and the $20 billion scammed from the EDD and then let’s talk. The conditions are not designed to prevent aid from reaching the fire victims they’re to prevent a corrupt and incompetent governor from directing funds away from the victims.

talks about morality but let's not forget his own track record. While he lectures us about disaster aid, his district remains in disarray with little to show for his promises. It's easy to moralize when you're not held accountable for your own failures. Before accusing others of using disaster for political gain, maybe Rep. Lieu should look at how his district continues to struggle under his leadership. Conditioning disaster aid? Perhaps it's time to condition it on effective governance, something lacking in Lieu's district. #AccountabilityMatters #DisasterAid #LeadershipFailure

FACT CHECK: No, FEMA isn’t running out of money to help hurricane victims because they gave funds to migrants. Congress approved $20 billion for FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund through Dec. 20, and those funds are locked in for disaster relief only. The $640 million for the Shelter and Services Program, which helps with humanitarian aid, is separate and cannot unilaterally be repurposed for disaster recovery by the President or by FEMA. Congress — led by Republicans in the House — approved both budgets, and it takes Congressional action to allocate more funds. It's just another MAGA lie to try and scare voters before the election.
