Let's talk about VRChat's response about AI on the platform.

I use VRC List to find new worlds and I love the fact that they labeled AI thumbnail stuff and makes it so easy to filter out. But for Vrchat not doing this crazy to me.

What I find confusing is the fact they're willing to add like/dislike function, but an AI label they won't. Yet the world I created from scratch still sits in labs while many AI generated ones get to be seen. Been a good 4-5 months now I been stuck in labs..

I think where the decline is really going to happen is creators in the west. As you said east isnt going anywhere…for now. What wont disappear is social interactions though because end of the day VRC is just a social platform. As a fellow world hopper this mostly effects creators and not the average player just hoping on. However it is the creators that keep VRC alive so i hope the western creators can at least be understood and considered. There is uncertainty which only time can answer when systems they said are implemented.

This was a quickly made video and I apologize for the audio and editing quality, but I felt this was an urgent topic that needed to be talked about. It didn't feel right to release my other video about VRChat portals since this is such a HUGE impact on the entire community and platform. I love VRChat and I want to make sure everyone knows both sides of this story.

It comes down to that people want something that is basically impossible to implement. The more you think about the issue, its getting more and more complex and impossible to enforce. A problem that not only VRchat struggles with.

AI is the Scapegoat of a deeper issue on vrchat. I think all this rallying against AI is part of a larger complaint that most players and creators feel on vrchat and it's not just about AI. There is absolutely no regulation or safety settings for worlds and it has nurtured a player base culture that has no incentive to care. Let me explain what I mean because it is several factors. 1: World search function behaves opposite of other search engines players are used to. It is not possible to narrow down a search, using the world menu by adding more tags. In fact, adding more tags generates more results. This makes finding and showing other worlds that players have found nearly impossible with their friends. Unless someone goes to the length to use other sites or bump off worlds saved on their favorites list. 2: It is currently NOT POSSIBLE to know if the world a player is about to join is going to crash them. ALL the player has to go off of, is the thumbnail, the world size, and description. This makes world exploration a gamble, and usually a lonely venture. Is this new world going to crash you and all of your world hopping friends? What if this world doesn't have a ground collider and you fall continuously? Now you have to somehow regroup. And if you find a world that is cool and exciting, but all your favorites list is full what do you do? Search for it again? Avatar's have ranking systems, worlds could easily have a ranking system based on a "metric against a known baseline." 3: Popular worlds DO NOT CYCLE in the active and popular section. How many years has "Murder 4", "Black Cat", "Optimized Box" have consistently be in the top 5 worlds you first see in the world menu? 5-6 years. And what makes these worlds uniquely special compared to the many other worlds out there? It is really discouraging for any world creator to spend any amount of time on a new game world, or something that could potentially be popular. But it will never happen if there isn't some sort of mechanism to help cycle what is popular. Popular worlds do not cycle out because of the issues above, and the positive feedback loop that causes position bias, people are more likely to notice, click, or read something because it appears first. 4: Slop uploaded to VRCHat has always been a thing, it just wasn't a good look to complain about it untill AI came around. There are many hundreds of worlds that are the exact Unity Prefab packages that people download from gumroad or and the only change is a few preset photos. How many times have you've joined what looks like it could be an interesting world only to say "oh, i've seen this asset before." But this world may have been uploaded by someone who, it's their first time using unity. It's not a good look to discourage new creators, thats not a good look. But it IS far easier to justify rallying against AI. And that is why I think a lot more people are vocal about it. But it's not JUST about the AI, The frustration comes from everything stated above. AI is just the easy target.

It's interesting that VRChat originated from (Nashville, TN USA if I recall?) is now more Japan focused and the minority is now the US, crazy to think.

Appreciate your level-headed, generally neutral take on the matter by simply presenting details that the majority have likely glossed over in favor of blind outrage/advantageous attention. The point on JP investors I do think has relevance in providing proof of high JP support.
