Today, we’re launching the Parallel Search API, the most accurate web search for AI agents, built using our proprietary web index and retrieval infrastructure. Traditional search ranks URLs for humans to click. AI search needs something different: the right tokens in their context window. Parallel’s Search API is built from the ground up for AI agents, resulting in higher accuracy, lower costs, and lower latency for end-to-end agentic workflows.

Following rapid growth, a $100M Series B, and a slate of new launches, I sat down with Parallel co-founder Travers. Parallel Web Systems is building core search infrastructure for the agentic web: systems that enable AI to retrieve, structure, and reason over information across the internet with speed, accuracy, and reliability. I joined Travers at Parallel’s new Palo Alto office for a wide-ranging conversation on: > The pace going from launch last August to becoming critical infrastructure powering production workflows at companies like Notion, Harvey, Granola, and more. > Why Parallel sees the future of search as far beyond “ten blue links,” toward systems built for retrieval, reasoning, monitoring, and computation. > The changing nature of the web itself: its economics, openness, and what happens as agents become primary users. > The artistry and legacy of internet history shaping the company: Olivetti typewriters, Douglas Hofstadler, Lloyd Shapley, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Google’s Search Box, and how it inspired programs like the Museum of the Human Web. This is an extensive and wide ranging look into one of the most interesting sectors of the agentic web. We Terrain feel lucky to have worked with Travers and the team since the start just two years ago. So much to do.

We’re officially a YOUnicorn! 🦄 Excited to share that You.com just raised $100M Series C at a $1.5B valuation, led by Cox Enterprises. We’ve been heads down building the search infrastructure for the AI and agent future. Soon there will be more AI agents using the web than humans, but today's search wasn't built for this. Agents need deep, contextual information from both public web and internal private data to make real decisions. Our web search API delivers the most up-to-date, accurate, and fastest search results for LLMs and agents. Real benchmarks show we consistently outperform the competition on accuracy and speed while staying cost-effective. Today, we’re answering over 1 billion queries every month across enterprises like DuckDuckGo, Windsurf, Harvey, and many others. There is no other startup of recent years at this scale. Grateful to our wonderful employees, customers, partners, and investors who believe in our vision. The agentic era is here - let's build it together. Try our LLM search APIs.

Since our 1999 investment in Google, Kleiner Perkins has long partnered with teams building the web’s core infrastructure. Today, we are co-leading Parallel’s $100M Series A with Index Ventures. Founded by Parag Agrawal, Parallel Web Systems is building the web for agents. The platform provides a native search API and index that can retrieve, organize, and rank tokens—not blue links—so AI systems can access and reason over accurate, current context. As part of the round, Mamoon Hamid will join Parallel’s board. As Parag Agrawal puts it: “Agents aren’t issuing keywords. They declare intent and receive high-signal tokens.” Watch Mamoon’s conversation with Parag ⬇️

Today we are announcing Keenable AI, an AI-native index of the best human knowledge we have, starting with the open web. AI seems to know just about everything until you ask it about something you know deeply. The answer isn’t wrong, but it's just very average. We started Keenable to fix this problem: every model and every agent should be able to query, reason over, and continuously learn from the living web. Backed by a $26M Seed from Accel and Conviction. Built by the team that took on Google at Yandex Search, with researchers and engineers from Amazon AGI, X, and Perplexity. The Web Search API and Web Query Language for AI are live now. Together they make the web queryable at AI scale. Both are free until end of September. Seven days of benchmarks, stories, and launches ahead. Let your agents search.
