Lewis Hamilton. May 2025, Imola. Explicitly saying brakes "have been a problem, that's been quite a big issue all year actually, so I've never experienced that before, so that's a new thing for me this year." Asked: It's not the carbon industries versus Brembo transition you're having? Answer: It's... show more

Rick Rubin on being addicted to the miracle of creation: “I like the moment of revelation. So we're working on something and it's just okay. It's boring. I'd rather not be there. That's how it feels. But then something happens and it's like magic. Something appears. It's not like we made it. Something comes up in the process. It's conjured in the process. It’s like a miracle and that's the thing that's addictive. That feeling when it's like it's not good, it's not good, it's not good, it's not good. We try something and it doesn't work. Try something else and it doesn't work. But then all of the sudden what we're listening to is really cool. That's the [addictive] feeling, that moment of discovery where it goes from nothing to something really good. And then the whole rest of the process after that is protecting that because it's super delicate. When it happens it's like this miracle happened and this magic thing happened and now we have to protect it through the rest of the process to not ruin it. It's scary because you don't want it to end. You don't want it to stop because we know if it stops, we can't control it. We can't do it again. It's not like that. It's this moment in time where something magical happens. So we spend a lot of time waiting and I can't say that's fun. Waiting is not fun.”

Hazuki on how she would like to defend the Spark belt: "Hmm... I've been saying that I want to defend it, but, well, it's not a STARDOM belt, so I feel like it's pretty hard to actually get a defense match. I've only defended it once, and it's already been a year." #STARDOM

Ben Horowitz on the oldest law in startups, and why the industry no longer has to obey it: "The one thing we all knew in startup world is that if I have a two-year lead on you and you try to catch me by hiring 1,000 engineers, you're gonna wreck your company." "That never works. It's a Mythical Man-Month. Nine women can't have a baby in a month. That's it. That never works." "Okay, now that works. But it's not hiring 1,000 engineers. It's taking $3 billion and lighting up a magnificent cluster, and then all of a sudden, whatever, Grok can come out of nowhere and, oh, all of a sudden it's real." "You can throw money at the problem, and you can throw money at almost any problem, and that works. That is just completely different than anything we've ever lived through. By the way, we're all psychologically adjusting to this." benahorowitz.eth Erik Torenberg

"we spoke about it in the past in drivers' briefing, saying they should leave it out at least for a lap, so it's equal for everyone" lando: i need to speak to the team, but it's not a guessing game. so i was just unlucky. i was the only one on the whole grid that doesn't get a pit stop. so i lose 20 seconds on the whole grid. it's out of my control. it's out of their control. it's a rule that shouldn't define a race. a race should be won by a guy who can put in the best performance, who maybe takes a risk by going long in a stint, and maybe you get a safety car later on and things can help, because you know that's one of the big factors. but for everyone to get a safety car, vsc, pit loss, and me to get nothing. it's just unfair but it's happened in the past. others have won from it. i've probably won it from it in the past, and it's just i don't think many people have lost a race win over it. it's frustrating. i don't feel like it's the way you should lose. we spoke about it in the past in drivers' briefing, saying they should leave it out at least for a lap, so it's equal for everyone. today i was the only one that lost out, and i lost out about 20 seconds of race time, and that's not how it should be.

Scott Rueck on Oregon State and the year the school has had: "It's my university, so I care... One thing I'll say, it's hard hearing your school talked about in the way it's been talked about and in a way devalued. Clearly I don't see it that way... To turn a community and a region on it's ear has been a dream of mine and we've done that and we've done it at the highest level and we've gotten to this point a couple times now. What the value is, I don't know, but I know the timing of it's really great. We've been drug through the mud... All I know is Beaver Nation is awesome and Oregon State is an incredible university... And we can compete with anyone from there... It's been a joy of mine to put smiles on people's faces, especially this year."

Pastrnak on the Mittelstadt-Zacha-Arvidsson line: "It's impressive. They never met each other and they've been a great line the whole year. Every time they are on it makes it so much easier for the rest of the group to follow up, and when they have nights like this, not many nights we come up short." "Pav has been on a great goal streak and we'll need that, and it's been really fun to watch and I'm super happy for him."

ELON: SOMEONE HAS TO SOLVE ROCKET REUSABILITY — WHETHER IT’S SPACEX OR SOMEONE ELSE “The cost of the fuel and oxygen on a Falcon 9 is 0.3% of the cost of the rocket. So, it's a very tiny number. It's very similar to an airplane. How much does it cost to fuel up an airplane, and how much does it cost to buy an airplane? They're very different things. If humanity is ever to expand beyond Earth and establish a self-sustaining base on another planet, it's critical that we solve this problem. Whether it's SpaceX or someone else, someone has to solve the problem, and we can have a hundred-fold reduction in the cost of spaceflight. That's what SpaceX has been trying to do, and really that's been the goal since the beginning of the company. So far, I've not been very successful in that regard, but I think we have a handle on it. We've got a design that closes in the simulations. If we can build that thing, it should work.” Source: SXSW, March 2013

"I really enjoyed [the sprint], particularly at the beginning and then obviously less so towards the end. But it's great to see Ferrari in the top three and to be a part of that. It was the first time that I've been in that battle this year with George and unfortunately my left tyre gave up quite early. But it's good, it was a good experience. Not too much lost ground wise and we'll see what changes we can make now so that it's better for tomorrow."

Joel Embiid on the new look Sixers: "The biggest hurdle that we have is how quick can we all get together. Last couple teams that had won a championship like it's hard to put a team together after one year and be like, go do it. It's not impossible. It's been done before, but it's gonna take everybody to be able to accomplish that goal"

.Elon Musk: "The interest payments on the debt exceed the defense department budget of a trillion dollars a year, and that is rising rapidly. There have to be quite radical reductions in costs. If, please Lord, Trump wins and the Department of Government Efficiency happens, we will be very open and transparent. Here are the issues. We're going to lower spending, and if we don't, we're going to bankrupt the country. I've tried Googling it, and I've asked all the AIs how many government agencies are there. Even the government doesn't know. The AIs don't know. It's about 450, but maybe it's 420. That's a lot of agencies just at the federal level. We have to unwind the situation. It will unleash a new era of prosperity because people don't realize how much they are getting held back by millions of federal regulations. If it turns out that we actually got rid of a good regulation, we'll put it back. It's that easy."

Josh Hokit reflects on his meteoric rise during his first year in the UFC: "It's been a solid year, I would say. It's probably one of the best years a UFC fighter—especially a rookie UFC fighter—has ever had, so yeah, it's been good. I just knew I needed the opportunity, and they've given me the opportunity, so I've been making the most of it."
