Noncitizens Will Not Use Their Own Interpreters BMV (Yes noncitizens can get driver licenses in Maine) Public employee whistleblowers came forward and said foreigners were cheating on their driver exams via interpreters and the issue was widespread. The state will now issue the interpreters for them. *Let's put aside the fact that foreigners(non US citizens) can get driver licenses in Maine - which is also the MAXIMUM required proof to vote in Maine & most town clerks admitted they didn't even require that. **You shouldn't even be able to get a license if you're not a US citizen, let alone require an interpreter, because you cannot read or speak English. ***State of Maine has also decided NOT to pursue a larger investigation despite all the whistleblowers.
