What would a real journalist do when they had to eat their words because the laptop they said couldn’t be verified was verified, and proven not to be a Russian hoax ? They would issue a very public retraction, promise to do better in the future and re examine their sources, in order to maintain their credibility. What would a propagandist do ? The would double down, create an echo chamber and when they couldn’t deny the truth any longer, they would turn the page and start looking for the next inconvenient truth they could label a Russian hoax. They have run this playbook so many times they have destroyed their own profession.
