Michigan Dem Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed declined to disavow any of Hasan Piker’s views as the two joined forces on the campaign trail. “This whole gotcha game … cancel culture, I thought we were over it,” he told our Adam Wren. El-Sayed added that hesitancy to engage with left-wing surrogates like Piker is why Dems "too often fail to get our message out.”

Hasan has some suggestions for how Abdul El-Sayed can tackle questions about Hasan that are asked during interviews: "I think one of the best things Abdul can say in moments like this is, 'Hasan is a socialist, I'm not. We have our disagreements there but that is what democracy is about. Democracy is complicated. There is going to be some friction at times, but ultimately, this diversity of thought is how we arrive at the best possible outcome for as many people as possible. And that's the American way."

This legitimizes the smear, unfortunately, and it also doesn't make anybody happy. There are going to be a lot of people who are already questioning Abdul El-Sayed's sincerity on these issues that will then turn around and say, 'he's moderating his position on Israel!' I don't think he is. I will say this: I am literally the person that is being dangled and I'm going to tell you once again; he's not moderating on his perspective on Israel or anything like that."
