A new militant group in southern Libya, calling itself the “Revolutionaries of the South,” has begun its activities by tearing down posters of the UAE-backed Haftar militia and announced that it has captured a number of UAE-backed Haftar militiamen and taken control of Koudai in Gharara and the Salvador point in southern Libya. The group’s spokesman said they are rising up against the dictatorship, oppression, and corruption of the UAE-backed Haftar militia. It is still unclear whether this group has backing from the Tripoli government in western Libya, from any foreign actors, or if it is simply citizens rising up against the UAE-backed Haftar militia that controls eastern Libya.
