When we focus only on the problems in society, we stagnate, we stay in the same conditions our parents were in. There can only be progress when some of us focus on something else, something that inspires the rest of us

ELON: LIFE CAN'T JUST BE ABOUT SOLVING ONE MISERABLE PROBLEM AFTER THE OTHER "That can't be the only thing. There need to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. It is time to go forth and become a star-faring civilization. Be out there among the stars, expand the scope and scale of human consciousness. I find that incredibly exciting. That makes me glad to be alive." Sources: SXSW, Dima Zeniuk

ELON: EARTH IS THE CRADLE OF HUMANITY, BUT WE WEREN’T BORN TO STAY IN IT “There are a lot of negative things in the world. There’s a lot of terrible things happening all the time, lots of problems that need to get solved. But life cannot just be about solving one miserable problem after another. There need to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. That’s why we did this. The early Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky said, ‘Earth is the cradle of humanity, but you cannot stay in the cradle forever.’ It is time to go forth, become a spacefaring civilization, expand the scope and scale of human consciousness. I find that incredibly exciting. That makes me glad to be alive. I hope you feel the same way.” Source: Astro Greek Elon Musk

ELON: LET’S DO THINGS THAT MOVE OUR HEARTS! “Life cannot just be about solving one problem after another. We need things that inspire us. We need things that move our hearts. That, when you wake up in the morning, you're excited to be alive. Being a space-faring civilization and making true the things that we see in the good science fiction movies, this is one of the things that I think can inspire all of humanity. Just like when the astronauts went to the moon in 1969, it was something. They said: 'For all mankind'. And it really was something... You say to any human on Earth, what's the most amazing thing that humanity has ever done? At least one of those things would be, we went to the moon. You want to have these inspiring things that make you excited to be alive, excited about the future.” Source: VivaTech Paris, June 2023

The future cannot just be about one miserable thing after another, solving one sad problem after another. There got to be things that get you excited, like, you want to live! Elon Musk on why humanity needs to become a spacefaring civilization There are really two reasons One is survival...having consciousness on multiple worlds massively increases the probable lifespan of civilization But the other reason is just as important “Life cannot just be about solving one sad problem after another” “There must also be things that make you excited to wake up in the morning...that make you look forward to the future...that make life worth living” Becoming a spacefaring civilization is one of those things....this is the deeper reason behind Mars

ELON MUSK: “When I wake up in the morning and think about what is inspiring because we need things in this world that are inspiring. Life cannot just be about solving one problem or after another. There have to be things that make you look forward to the future. And being a space-faring civilization I think is the most interesting thing we could possibly do for the future. It is making Star Trek real.

Elon Musk: Humanity going to Mars will inspire the whole world. “Humanity going to Mars, even if you don't yourself want to go to Mars, and most people don't, just watch. It's a tough gig, frankly. This would not be a luxury expedition, but you'd be able to watch it happen. I think it would just be incredibly inspiring to the world in the same way that the Apollo program was inspiring to the world. Life can't just be about solving one problem or another. We need things that make us excited and inspired about the future. And that would be one of them.” From: Baron Investment Conference, November 4, 2022
