It is usually not HR or payroll. It is usual because your manager didn't do your time card correctly. Payroll is just pulling the information your manager /supervisor/etc. approved.

Not only that but you have grimy managers that would try to finesse you to make sure they’re “following” the rules if I didn’t clock out for lunch and you saw, I didn’t go on lunch but yet you still clocked me out and take the hour away from me that’s illegal stop playing with me

It's not always the fault of payroll. People really do not punch in and out correctly 😐 There are too many people to process to chase down correct punches.

She's speaking truth here, humans make mistakes. Sometimes just a couple people are processing hundreds of paychecks every week or two, mistakes happen. And don't assume malice, it's probably just an honest mistake.
