Ecstatica is one of the first 3D survival horror games, and it was pretty advanced for its time. You can play as either a man or a woman, and it features great graphics, atmosphere, and cool mechanics, like the werewolf (not an ape!) stalking you through the town. It's very brutal and has a twisted sense of humor. Really good game.

Which was released under the titled "Zombie Zone" in Europe the following year. This live action adaption was very much on brand on what was happening with the horror action scene in Japan with the likes of Tokyo Gore Police and Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl.
