@BrianRoemmele Princeton physicists created 'solid light' in 2023 by binding photons together using Rydberg atoms - a state of matter predicted by Chiao in 1967.

Very cool, but structured light would be extremely inefficient for most practical uses, you wouldn’t want to rely on a photon based solid. The amount of photons you would need for something like a chair is almost beyond comprehension. Still, it would be awesome to get that far.
