Like, there really is no beating this. Perfect visuals aside, the theme ticks off any and every box you’d need or want. Exciting, adventurous, mysterious, versatile, little folks-y with the whistling. And the perfect stinger with the warped backwards notes and the final drop.

The ending bit will forever be my favorite part because beyond the Bill Zodiac tease there is something so strangely and addictively foreboding yet definitive about it, like instead of ending it with an exclamation mark they ended it with a question mark and it’s perfect.

The part where they don't realize they're standing over a big foot also captures pretty well how the twins often miss the bigger picture

Will forever curse disney plus for being the primary way of watching this show now bc everyone who newly discovers it will just skip this fantastic intro when it should rightfully be burned into your brain by the end of the show

It sounds like a little tune people would hum around a campfire to me. Half fun and atmospheric, half mysterious and foreboding. It's an embodiment of what Gravity Falls was in musical form without trying to do too much and overstay its welcome

It shows the intirgue, the stillness, and the comedy. It's an impressive intro that very much shows what the show is in only forty seconds.

Had too much to say. Gravity Falls is a unique cartoon show in more than one way, and having an instrumental theme that actually works better than a song is one of those ways.

I only noticed the other day that none of the chord progressions in the song resolve until the very end, and even the ending is a new, backwards progression It’s like the song itself is its own mystery refusing to give away its answers

Not to mention the mystery shack fight version and wierdmageddon are killer

Whenever a new episode of this show came out, I would whistle the theme song. My cat always used to come over to me when I did it. Even now when I need to find her, I whistle this tune and she's not far behind.

i love how the backward message actually changed during different parts of the series too! i always thought it was just “3 letters back” but in things like weirdmageddon 3 its “goodbye gravity falls”
