I don't know if this is a hot take, but I still firmly believe that #23point5 had way better dialogue and character development than #WhaleStorexoxo. The relationship between OngsaSun was way more touching to me than WanMaewnam ever was, and somehow managed to feel more mature (especially closer to the end) despite the overall goofy and childish tone of the series. I don't know exactly to explain how I feel about this, It's more about gut feeling than actual logic. I just thought MilkLove's first adult GL would be more or at least as emotionally deep as their first one, but most of Whale Store fell flat for me. Even their breakup scene, the most dramatic one of the whole show, PALES in comparison to the one above, and because the ending of the series was rushed AF, everything is solved quickly in the next one through a joke. Wan being drunk solved the situation, JUST LET THAT SINK IN. I felt at every step that Ongsa deeply loved Sun, and It was heartwarming to see Sun warming up to Ongsa until that love was mutual between them. Meanwhile, sometimes I felt that Wan ended up liking Wan more because she was literally on her path than because she actually and deeply loved her, and that If Maewnam did not HEAVILY tried they would never get anywhere. Add that to Mahnmook's whole character arc going nowhere, and the overall rushed ending, and #WhaleStorexoxo as an experience feels incomplete. I still believe the first draft for the show had 12 episodes planned, and then GMM ordered the writers to cut It down to 10 for whatever reason, because at the end It genuinely feels that everyone is missing that. It's was first time a GL concluded, so I lack even something to compare It to. I hope MilkLove's next project is more thought out, because they deserve way better. If I had to convert someone into a Muvmuv, I'm definitelly sending them to 23.5, It was a way better showing of their skills as actresses and how a show can do more with way less in terms of production.
