Are you confused⁉️ Want to know what happened⁉️ I gat you‼️ LaSheena Weekly, the mother of Chicago drill rapper FBG Duck (Carlton Weekly), has been highly public about her son’s 2020 murder by alleged O’Block affiliates and her pursuit of accountability‼️. There is no widely documented evidence that she specifically claimed Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” (feat. Lil Durk) music video mocked her son’s death but she did say she felt a kind of way seeing Durk reaching such success when her kid was dead‼️ The murder of FBG Duck On August 4, 2020, 26-year-old Carlton Weekly (FBG Duck), affiliated with the Tookaville/STL/EBT faction of the Gangster Disciples, was shot multiple times (reports cite around 16–21 times) in broad daylight outside the Dolce & Gabbana store on Oak Street in Chicago’s upscale Gold Coast neighborhood‼️. He was shopping for clothes/gifts for his young son’s birthday‼️. His girlfriend and another man were wounded‼️. Prosecutors described it as a targeted hit in a long-running South Side gang conflict between Weekly’s group and the O’Block set of the Black Disciples (linked to Parkway Gardens)‼️. Surveillance and evidence showed an O’Block associate spotted him, alerted others, and a group arrived in vehicles and opened fire‼️. An informant claimed a bounty (initially $50,000, later raised to $100,000) had been placed on Duck; court filings and testimony tied aspects of this to King Von (Dayvon Bennett, a prominent O’Block-linked rapper who was himself killed in Atlanta in November 2020)‼️. In 2021–2023, six alleged O’Block members/associates were charged: Charles “C Murda” Liggins, Kenneth Roberson (or Robinson), Christopher “C Thang” Thomas, Marcus “Muwop” Smart, Tacarlos “Los” Offerd, and Ralph “Teezy”/“Tall” Turpin‼️. In January 2024, a federal jury convicted all six of murder in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder (some also on firearms counts related to the shooting)‼️. Life sentences without parole were mandated for the murder-in-aid-of-racketeering convictions; sentencings followed‼️. The case involved evidence of the gang rivalry, diss tracks (including Duck’s “Dead Bitches” aimed at rivals shortly before his death, and tracks from the other side), cell data, surveillance, and witness testimony about the enterprise and the hit‼️. Mama Duck’s role and public stance LaSheena Weekly lost multiple children (reports and her own statements reference several sons and a daughter to violence or other tragedies, including earlier losses). She has been outspoken since Duck’s death: calling for peace and no retaliation in Chicago, reviewing case materials, advocating via groups like Mothers of Peace, doing interviews (including with VladTV and No Jumper), and posting frequently online. She celebrated the 2024 convictions and later pursued a civil wrongful-death lawsuit (filed around October 2024) naming Lil Durk (Derrick Banks), King Von’s estate, their labels/OTF, the convicted individuals, the city, the store, and security firms‼️. The suit alleges involvement in or monetization of the violence and rivalry that led to the killing (Durk and Von were described as high-ranking figures in the broader Black Disciples-linked scene; OTF was portrayed as tied to the enterprise)‼️. A judge later allowed aspects of the case against Durk and labels to proceed‼️. She has repeatedly criticized Lil Durk for posthumous references/disses to Duck (notably lines in tracks like the previewed/released material around “Should’ve Ducked” or related songs, where she felt he was capitalizing on or disrespecting her son’s death while she was grieving)‼️. She has accused figures on that side of involvement or of profiting from the cycle of violence‼️. At times she has also engaged on broader peace efforts and reacted to tributes or other mentions‼️. She has described strong emotional reactions to footage and music tied to the actual killing and the rivalry‼️.
