I am so proud of the parent who blew the whistle and came to me with this story regarding Samuel V. Champion High School. Let’s recap - Champion High in Boerne, Tx “invited” a licensed psychologist named Dr. Sara Ansboro to come and speak during lunch hour to all students, 9-12, without parental consent. She spoke on gender identity, catholic priests, Christians lack of support for LGBTQ, and drugs that assist with transition. A concerned parent emailed the school to which the school responded and stated that, somehow, they were unaware of the guest speaker and apologized. Why was a complete stranger allowed inside the school walls without permission? I broke this story last week and since then, this parent’s son has been bullied by students, called a bigot and transphobe (by the same club members that told him he was in a safe place). He is special needs, diagnosed with autism and was a member of the GSA club. I was also harassed by students that used their student email accounts to do so, and was eventually doxxed by students attending the school. Presenter Tony Kearney was interviewing Alice Oseman, author of the Heartstopper graphic novels, which centre on a romance between two teenage boys and have been adapted into a popular Netflix series. Kearney praised Heartstopper for bringing terminology such as “aromantic” and “asexual” into mainstream media and “normalising” identities that might otherwise be marginalised. But he didn’t clarify what those terms - or, indeed, the phrase “queer identities” - actually mean. Nor did he acknowledge that some of these labels, and the ideas underpinning them, are contested. On April 22, 2026, my cousin was attacked by a group of students from Marcus Garvey Technical High School (Top Campus) on her way home from school. She was not involved in the original conflict, but she was targeted anyway. Multiple students surrounded her, hit her, and even used objects to strike her. The bus driver did not intervene. This is especially concerning given that Andrew Holness implemented this bus system to provide students with a safer way to commute to and from school, yet they are still not safe from each other. She came home in pain with a swollen face, a bruised lip, and her uniform torn off of her. A school here in Calgary, in our own district, sent out a message about a “Swap Identities Day.” This isn’t about disrespecting anyone. This is about asking where the role of the school ends and where the role of the parent begins. At five years old, children are still developing. This young woman says she’s non-binary. She also thinks 12-year-olds can consent to sex, and shared with us that 10-year-olds were having sex when she was that age. She lies about two years of therapy being needed before children begin puberty blockers. Yes, this is a lie, as evidenced by a news article just this morning in Australia that children were beginning puberty blockers and/or cross-sex hormones without even a single psychiatric assessment. She lies further by saying children are not receiving hormones, and thinks it’s not a big deal that kids are being sterilized because her generation doesn’t want to have children anyway.
