Lisa Nandy is either lying or has grossly misunderstood what her constitutents are saying here. PIP is NOT an out-of-work benefits. 1 in 5 people on PIP are in work. Noone on PIP WOULD EVER say this. Full stop. I will be complaining to the PCC.

Note @lisanandy says PIP twice so this is not a slip-of-the-tongue, it shows a deep misunderstanding of benefits. Lisa neither represents her constitutents nor facts. Dangerous. Labour- why can't you find anyone to speak pro cuts who knows the system? Media ditto correcting her?

FFS. Why are the media so completely incapable of challenging these obviously misleading statements?!

Earlier in the same interview, she talked about mitigations, and said "say you used your PIP for a taxi to work, and now no longer qualify, you would still be able to go to a fund to access provision if that would help you to stay in work", so she knows PIP doesn't preclude work

Google is your friend Lisa! The United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) may not be your friend though! Cos . . The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) report, published on April 24, 2024, explicitly links the UK government’s actions and rhetoric to the devaluation of disabled people and the resulting hate speech. The specific quote from the report that makes this connection clear, as it relates to the government, is: “There is a pervasive framework and rhetoric that devalues disabled people and undermines their human dignity. Reforms within social welfare benefits are premised on a notion that disabled people are undeserving and wilfully avoiding employment (‘skiving off’) and defrauding the system. This has resulted in hate speech and hostility towards disabled people.” This statement directly criticises the government’s social welfare reforms and the rhetoric surrounding them, attributing these policies and the associated narrative to fostering hate speech and hostility. The report further elaborates that this framework is perpetuated by government actions, including misleading press articles (like Lisa's fake news piece here) and complaints upheld against the Department for Work and Pensions for “stirring up hostility” against benefit claimants, reinforcing the government’s role in this issue. The issue here for me is that Lisa is not a dopey Twitter random, she is actually being paid from hard earned taxpayer money and in exchange for her public money funding - Lisa is either grossly incompetent in the extreme or she is using taxpayer money to stir up disability hate speech with fake news - either eventuality means Lisa needs to resign from feeding herself off of the taxpayers as her continuing to do so is 'poor value' if not a contravention of the Equality Act 2010. I'm thinking section 111 applies to her: Section 111 of the Equality Act 2010 -Instructing, causing or inducing contraventions: (1)A person (A) must not instruct another (B) to do in relation to a third person (C) anything which contravenes Part 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 or section 108(1) or (2) or 112(1) (a basic contravention). (2)A person (A) must not cause another (B) to do in relation to a third person (C) anything which is a basic contravention. (3)A person (A) must not induce another (B) to do in relation to a third person (C) anything which is a basic contravention. (4)For the purposes of subsection (3), inducement may be direct or indirect. Lisa is duly put on notice.

@lisanandy why are you on national TV stating untruths. Your basic duty was finding out what PIP is before agreeing that the gov should scrap it for so many

She's a bag of hot air!

She Has been in Politics Way To Long to Misunderstand Her Constituents!. Bad Bad look Trying to Prop up @Keir_Starmer @leicesterliz Political Disabled Cuts!. When they have choices!. Simple build 4 instead of 12 new Subs!. It can be Done!.

Lisa Nandy is always lying

FFS! She literally doesn’t know the difference between PIP and UC 😫🤦🏼♀️. She’s a *Cabinet Minister*!!!! (FWIW I think the Right to Try is a good idea and probably the only decent thing to come out of this shitshow). “Come off PIP and go back into work”. What the fuck.

Sounds like she leaked a Cabinet discussion.. If people work.. take their PIP away.. (Even though it helps some work). You can picture them saying "why do they need that if they earn.... They can pay own way - be independent and better off" (We know not the case obvs).
