😆 FYI. Keeping chickens for eggs is not cheaper than store bought! Healthier, richer yokes, knowing where your food comes from, teaching kids way more than a school can. These are good reasons to keep chickens. Not cheaper eggs.

Funny. People ask me if it’s cheaper to get chickens for eggs and I say I’ve had chickens for well over 10 years and probably still haven’t recouped my initial investment 😂 but I love it.

Totally agree with you, because of uneducated people who purchased chickens & did not care for them properly, chickens are no longer allowed in my community.

That’s funny! 😂 but why would anybody buy chickens and not know how to take care of them? You wouldn’t do that with any other animal.

Because people don’t see them as actual animals unfortunately

Chicken coop diaries . . . 1. Don't use fb groups if you want to maintain what little sanity you have left. 2. If you're not smart enough to know that you don't know everything, you're not smart at all. 2a. If you're not smart enough to ask the folks at the seed and feed store where you got the chickens, you don't deserve to own chickens. 3. Know that the initial outlay to raise laying hens will outweigh the cost of retail eggs for a while. Holy kamoly! 4. If the price of eggs returns to pre-covAID levels, don't even think about culling those birds! 5. Don't raise hens for cheap eggs; raise hens for healthier eggs.
