I agree that children shouldn’t be blamed, but I don’t think putting your children first means completely abandoning your own identity, ambitions or happiness. Parents are human too.

For me, it does. You have to abandon yourself to raise them right and that's what being a parent really means.. Sacrifice your needs, body, happiness and ambitions for your children. If you don't want/are ready for that (I'm not) just focus on yourself and don't have children

@arabornot You can't be a good mom/dad if you aren't aware you need more than love/money to take care/raise a child.. Most aren't ready for that level of sacrifice and commitment, and it's ok. Being a parent is hard, a huge responsibility that shouldn't be done as irresponsibly as some do.

She chose a career over her family and in turn lost her daughters respect and her marriage… this isn’t some epic rant, this is a woman who knows in her soul she made the wrong choice and is trying to justify it.

There’s a difference between defending your choices and genuinely being at peace with them. Her anger felt like years of unresolved regret coming to the surface.

If you’re able to do it as a single mom, you’re blessed but here it’s more of how it’s been a total neglect from her. She’s been more concealed in her work and career than even realizing she’s a wife and a mom. She was telling her daughter about the divorce and she was letting her know she was to blame for it.

Damn - I can see how a mom/dad who has given everything to thei child can crack. Some kids are rude, insensitive, entitled and do nothing but take, push and never appreciate or say thanks. Not always the parents fault -sometime, just a bad kid. Everyone has a breaking point.
