WHY Maxence Lacroix Could Fix Chelsea’s Biggest Problem… Chelsea have not struggled to create chances. They have struggled to stop good ones. Last season, Chelsea consistently gave opponents high-quality looks at goal, especially in transition. Too often, one broken shape or one lost duel turned into a clear chance. That is where Maxence Lacroix could change everything. He is one of the quickest centre-backs in the Premier League, dominant in the air and elite when it comes to positioning himself inside the box. He is a front-foot stopper who can step into duels, engage strikers early and still has the recovery pace to deal with runners in behind. That profile could be perfect for Xabi Alonso’s system. With both sides being compact out of possession and excellent at defending their box, this game should produce very few shots on target.
