Bruh I was watching this on loop waiting for the winner to show

This is an engineering class these days? We did this project in high school in the late 90s when we actually had shop classes. We did it with toothpicks. The Triangle is your friend

All of them were kind of artsy, NONE of them showed ANY signs of Engineering knowledge!

So there are not any good civil engineers?

We did this with paper. But the span you had to cross was specifically defined (perhaps 18 inches??) and we weren't allowed to hold it while it was being loaded. The loading was adding small weights until it failed, score was how much it held. These have a variety of spans and the random loading of books isn't going to give a good measure of strength

Is the structure made of uncooked spaghetti noodles?

How is this a competition if neither span nor height is standardized?

Those inverted-U shapes will never hold up. Arch works because it carries load in pure compression down to the ground. Without proper triangulation, truss sticks are fighting bending forces they can’t handle. Engineering starts with that intuition, not just being rich kids.

Reckon that that is a pretty good means to grade these students, if it crumbled immediately - F, if it crumbled after 1 book - D, 2 books - C, 3 books - B, 4 books - A and if it withstands 4 books and stays upright - A+

He’s pressing down when he puts the books on the structure 📚

Never use a bridge built after 2010.

They're all dumb

My fat ass thought it was pasta

If you know physics than nothing impossible.

Es que a nadie se le ocurrió hacer un puto arco???!!! 🙄

engineering students really build spaghetti bridges like rent depends on it

Every structural engineering lesson eventually becomes “add one more textbook and see who flinches first” 😂

Why they not using arch

Watching how this instructor selects the order of the books used as weights and how they place them reveals that the instructor is not particularly bright.

Damn.. such practical way of teaching, I feel like study again.. this time seriously 😅

I did this with my sixth graders, but with a twist. They were given a finite amount of Monopoly money, which they had to use to purchase their building supplies (glue and toothpicks). We then used weights to measure how much weight each bridge could hold.

Shuu them nor teach them BEAM before them thy construct?

@grok can you suggest a good design

That third one needs to change classes asap. 🤣

1:14'teki nasıl bir köprüydü ya. Yıkılmasa bile üzerinden geçilmez.

The client loves it, except for all the bits holding it up.

Bu tarz eğitimcilere istiyoruz

你需要做的是升级材质

Why are they so fucking stupid??? Have they ever seen a bridge structure???
