I have not seen enough about the decision from Mike Vrabel and Tim Kelly to go for 2 down by 8 last night. Here’s why I loved it: 1) NFL teams this season have been successful on 55% of two-point conversion attempts. The odds were in the Titans’ favor. 2) Will Levis was dealing in the 2nd half. 3) Titans still had all three timeouts and the two-minute warning. 4) Miami struggled to move the ball on offense all night. Their three scoring drives went for 12, 7, and 59 yards. 5) If successful on the two-point conversion, a stop on defense and a TD wins the game. If unsuccessful, you can still send it to OT. 6) Titans offense marched down the field, scored the TD to make it a one possession game and essentially told Miami, “we are going for two because we know you cannot stop us right now.” The odds are in your favor. It’s a good mathematical decision. You want to psych out an opposing offense? Give them the ball knowing they need to run the clock out, or you are going to have a chance to WIN the game, not send it to overtime. They saw what your offense just did to their defense. They saw your QB on the sideline screaming and hyping everyone up. Cutting the lead to six put WAY more pressure on the Dolphins offense. You want to hype up your defense? He told us they’re doing a great job managing the economy and have big plans for our nation - as he bounced from slogan to slogan. At some point Labor must stop campaigning and start answering for the mess we are in. A mess the political class have made. The establishment in Australia are so poll driven, so focused on the next sound bite they don’t seem to understand that their plans are not working. Too many Australians are worse off today than they were a decade ago. Housing, groceries and the everyday basics slipping further and further out of reach. Crime increasing as the situation worsens… and yet, the National Press Club in their pant suits fawn over every word that falls from Chalmers. He tells us the Labor government is modernising our electricity grid. As electricity becomes unstable and expensive. How very modern. He suggests they are “seizing the opportunities from Net Zero with a future made in Australia”, as long-standing businesses that used to make things here – close down for good. It sounds to me like he should instead have a PhD in spin. Not that the Australian media has much interest in questioning him. I don’t share these videos or this story often. At 5:45 PM on July 13, 2024 at the Butler Farm Show, my then 10-week pregnant wife and I spoke with President Donald J. Trump . The President went to the ground, facing us. Unarmed, all we could do was find the earth. I laid on my pregnant wife, praying to Christ. The shooter was 350 feet directly to our rear. Corey and his family 20 feet to our rear, James Copenhagen and David Dutch 100 feet ahead. The laughs and joy were stolen from us all. The Australian government does not deserve our trust, or our respect. Today, Minister Penny Wong sat back in her chair grappling for words, desperately looking for the right lie to tell. It is worse than dishonest - it is an absolute lack of care. Penny Wong came to this country when she was 8 years old. She came to a country that afforded her the ability to become who she is, and she is now doing her part to destroy it. The people we are forced to trust, and must pretend to respect, because they have the force of law on their side. Not because they are any good at their jobs. Not because they have earned our affection. No. Simply because they are in charge and there is little to nothing that can be done about it. It is becoming apparent that the two party system has outlived its useful life. Too much corruption, too many words too carefully chosen in a pantomime between to political forces that don’t really want to change anything. They just want to have their go, to have their turn to jam their grubby hands into the till. Surely with this major and catastrophic failure by the so-called Honourable Minister Senator Wong, the people will be able to see through the veil and into the absolute and irresponsible lack of care at the heart of this deceitful Labor government. They lie about everything, and they can, because they don’t have an opposition worthy of the title. I am growing more confident by the day that the only solution to our woes is a new political force, a fresh, Australia first force, that will act in the national interest and put all these corrupt and useless used-car salesmen red and blue in the dustbin of history. Daphne, fleeing the god Apollo, has begged to be saved, and at the instant he catches her she begins to turn into a laurel tree. Bernini carved the exact second it happens, and the change starts at her hands: her raised fingers are sprouting laurel leaves, so thin that in bright light they turn faintly translucent, the way a real leaf glows when you hold it up to the sun. To understand what that took, consider what marble actually is. It is heavy, brittle, and utterly unforgiving. A single slip, one vibration too many, and a leaf that took days to carve shatters, and there is no putting it back. When the sculpture was restored in 1997, conservators discovered how Bernini protected this fragile growth while he worked: he had wrapped the thinnest, most delicate parts in little cushions of plaster, to shield them from the vibrations traveling through the stone as he carved the rest. The same restoration revealed his real secret... The leaves and the strands of windblown hair are riddled with the marks of a bow drill, a tool that bores holes into stone. But Bernini did not drill straight in, which would have left round, mechanical holes. On the tiny leaves at Daphne's fingertips, he tilted the drill at an angle, cutting long shallow grooves instead, so the marble would mimic the natural veins and splits of a living leaf. Look at the tips of her fingers. The marble is turning into leaves... This is the most astonishing detail in Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, in the Galleria Borghese in Rome. Daphne, fleeing the god Apollo, has begged to be saved, and at the instant he catches her she begins to turn into a laurel tree. Bernini carved the exact second it happens, and the change starts at her hands: her raised fingers are sprouting laurel leaves, so thin that in bright light they turn faintly translucent, the way a real leaf glows when you hold it up to the sun. To understand what that took, consider what marble actually is. It is heavy, brittle, and utterly unforgiving. A single slip, one vibration too many, and a leaf that took days to carve shatters, and there is no putting it back. When the sculpture was restored in 1997, conservators discovered how Bernini protected this fragile growth while he worked: he had wrapped the thinnest, most delicate parts in little cushions of plaster, to shield them from the vibrations traveling through the stone as he carved the rest. The same restoration revealed his real secret... The leaves and the strands of windblown hair are riddled with the marks of a bow drill, a tool that bores holes into stone. But Bernini did not drill straight in, which would have left round, mechanical holes. On the tiny leaves at Daphne's fingertips, he tilted the drill at an angle, cutting long shallow grooves instead, so the marble would mimic the natural veins and splits of a living leaf. He was imitating the way foliage actually grows. I wrote this so that the next time a sculpture detail takes your breath away, you do not see only marble. You see the months of patience of a human being who chose to spend part of his short life turning cold stone into a living leaf, so that four hundred years later a stranger would stop and feel something...
