Sad news, yet hurting 'local officials' isn't an answer:- Stopping fireworks being let off in enclosed environments IS the answer... Obviously health and safety standards aren't enforced/adhered to, and something like that can happen anywhere without precautions.

Tragic disaster in North Macedonia — dozens of young people burned alive in a nightclub fire A fire broke out at a nightclub in the city of Kočani. At least 50 people have died, most likely very young. The tragedy was caused by pyrotechnics — someone in the crowd set off fireworks inside the building. Panic ensued after the fire, and some people were crushed in the stampede. There were around 1,500 people inside the club.
