The only thing we were certain about, which unfortunately now we also have a lot of evidence for, is that lockdowns would cause enormous harm. Lockdowns cause harm at a socioeconomic level, not just within the country but we do have global responsibility. 400M people falling into food insecurity is not something we should just dismiss as happening over there. But even within the UK there was enormous socioeconomic harm and harm done to the poor and to the young.. 9 days ago, an Imam was stabbed in London. No mainstream media cover. No words from politicians. Certainly, and rightly, no hospitals were forced into 'lockdown' with British people told to only attend for 'life-threatening' illnesses or injuries. This raises the question: why is there such exceptionalism for jews? Hospitals must remain open and fully functional for everyone. We have a duty of care to the entire public. This is disturbing behaviour by our British state.

It is the height of hypocrisy to say you support a two-state solution but only recognise one state. I'm pleased there was overwhelming support for my debate in Parliament on the recognition of Palestine. The next UK Government must immediately recognise the state of Palestine.
