It’s Dyslexia Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is ‘What’s Your Story?’, so I wanted to give you a little bit of an insight into how I overcome my own struggles on a daily basis. It’s all about finding your own path, your own way of solving a problem. 📚Reading and writing have always been a challenge for me, but they’re a massive part of what I do. I actually dictated my first cookbook 25 years ago, and that’s also how Billy and the Giant Adventure was born – me recording stories that then got transcribed for me to edit from. I now work with some brilliant editors, people who understand how my brain works and are great at helping me get things down on paper. 📚With the Billy books, I’ll work in a room with pictures and Post-It notes all over the wall to help me see the story come to life, and with recipes I’m there in the kitchen cooking, while my editor captures the words. I think it’s about finding someone you can pair up with who is good at the thing you’re not, and seeing if you can swap talents. From your dishonest bad faith discussion of racist DEI polices to your mind-blowing support of a candidate that you wouldn’t hire to answer phones, it was remarkable to watch the deterioration of a once well-respected man. You literally got on national television and said this doorknob was a “dynamic speaker”. ⬇️ Look at your face and listen to your tonality. You didn’t believe those words coming out of your mouth. Whatever forced you to go on this 6-month self-humiliation tour, it’s done the job; nothing you represent should ever be trusted. The thing is, NONE of that will matter to you given your immense wealth because you can go anywhere you want and live how you want. And ultimately that’s the most disgusting thing about what you’ve tried to do. You were a water carrier for a deep state mechanism that has and would have continued to do real harm to the average American, while you and your family would remain unaffected. How a Chief Design Officer (yours truly) uses AI to design like an IC. This demo is for any designers that haven't yet embraced AI in their workflow. I’m one of two designers working on this plugin. I manage an organization of about 40 designers of various flavors, but I still keep myself in the trenches whenever possible. Lynt is one of these efforts. The examples I share are intentionally very simple to demonstrate how any designer at any level can leverage artificial intelligence to amplify and accelerate their human intelligence. AI is revolutionizing how we work as designers, yet I think of it more like a renaissance; a return to designing in consideration of the medium in which our designs are rendered, much like we did years ago when I first started. Arbitrarily, something like 80% of what we do as designers (in the act of designing) is exploration and iteration. For the past decade or more so much of that has happened in Figma and previously Sketch. These are great tools. But as a result of designing exclusively in a static environment, many have lost the ability to connect ideation with execution. Handholding your work from start to finish eventually gave way to handing off your work, and we never looked back. Artificial intelligence flips all of this on its head, positioning you (the designer) to be the one who first turns your design into code, iterate and iterate again, and experience using your work as users will, literally from day one of your design process. All the while freeing our engineering colleagues to focus on the work that only they can do, while designing alongside them.

I see people who look down on those of us who grew up without a silver spoon, or didn't get that chance at private schools, or live some fantasy high life... I'm not going to talk "bad" about them, but I don't like being looked down on, so let’s talk about it... I look at some of you up in those glass towers, sipping your $13 lattes while acting like the world only runs on spreadsheets & a rolodex. You’ve got your fancy degrees on the wall while your hands are softer than a newborn's backside, & you seem to have forgotten one very important thing... "Who built the wall that silly degree is hanging on?" You’re so busy looking at the "big picture" that you’ve gone blind to the people on the ground who put you there. Let's get real: The Foundation... You didn't code your way into a skyscraper. A guy in steel-toed boots poured the concrete. The Power... You didn’t "innovate" the lights turning on. A line worker climbed a pole in a lightning storm to make sure your WiFi didn't drop while you were ordering your avocado toast. The Backbone... While you’re "working from home" in your silk pajamas & having FaceTime, there’s a trucker hauling your organic kale through a tornado on I-75.
