In 2024, I fought for the RFP Jiu Jitsu title in Ukraine. The day before the fight , while I was at the hotel, an assassin was sent to kill me. He opened fire at me, my son, and my coach. By the grace of God, we all survived. The next day, I still stepped in to the cage. I didn’t run, and I didn’t pull out. I walked out carrying the Israeli flag, covered with the photos of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas. It was my way of showing the world that we are not afraid, And you’ll never break us.

In my experience, robot 'generalists' are often jacks of all trades but masters of none. In training across multiple tasks and environments, robot policies fail to generalize robustly and effectively to each particular test setting. What if at test time, we non-parametrically *retrieved* “relevant” data from the training set and used it to significantly improve the performance of few-shot imitation learning to be robust to various test time scenes. Notably, we are *not* collecting lots of new data, just training more on sub-components of the same training data! Now, we’re certainly not the first to suggest retrieval, but in our new work - STRAP, we show how retrieving relevant *sub-trajectories* from offline datasets can significantly increase data reuse across tasks, when paired with an appropriate metric space. One of the rules he implemented for his staff was to leave the office and be home for dinner and protect that time. But he also admits the difficulty he had following his own rule. Tom Segura learned a game-changing running hack: Stop training at max effort. On 2 Bears, 1 Cave, he explained that when he trains for a 5K by pushing hard (heart rate in the 170s), he hits a wall and doesn’t improve much. Instead, he now trains at a much lower heart rate, around 135–145, which feels slower at first, but over weeks and months, you get faster at that same heart rate. Then on race day, when you push it, your times drop significantly. Training at max effort all the time can actually make your times worse. It’s counterintuitive but makes total sense, you’re building the engine instead of constantly redlining it. Have you tried training at a lower heart rate zone to build endurance? Why do time slow down as you approach the speed of light? Because space and time are not separate things. They are woven together into spacetime, and the speed of light is built into its structure. Every object moves through spacetime at the same fundamental rate. When you are at rest, almost all of that motion is through time. As you move faster through space, some of that motion is redirected away from time. The total stays constant, so your clock must tick more slowly. This is not philosophy or metaphor. It has been measured with atomic clocks on airplanes and satellites. Move fast enough, and you do not just cross distances differently, you experience less time itself.
