love how woonhak was telling riwoo about tansansu while literally walking in circles like he really cannot believe tansansu said “I love you” to him 😭 im crying the 3x speed storytelling is so funny ngl 🧸: i just suddenly missed her, so i called and said i wanted to see her. then she was like, “why are you like that oppa” and i was like, “wow, how can you talk to me like that?” so i asked, “what are you doing? isn’t it children’s day the day after tomorrow? what are you up to?” and then she told me “oppa, you know that im off tomorrow and the day after” so i said “really? then what are you doing tomorrow?” and suddenly she goes "im going to the sea in incheon” 🧸i asked what she was going there for and who she was going with, and she said no one else just her and one friend. she has this really close best friend. so my younger sibling is going on a little outing not really a trip, more like a day trip to incheon with that friend, just the two of them. and as his older brother, of course i was worried. like, how are the two of them going to manage that? she's only in second year of middle school. But she said, “oppa, you used to take the subway around by yourself too, right? i can do it.” so i was like… okay. i tried to act cool and just sent her 100,000 won. i even told her, “take a taxi when you go, and take a taxi back.” yeah… that’s the kind of person i am, i guess. anyway, i sent it. 🧸 then suddenly, she told me she loves me. when she try to say “i love you,” she usually hesitate a lot and end up not saying it. but right after i sent the money, she suddenly went, “oppa, i love you.” like does that even make sense? 🧸 but still, hearing it made me really happy. i felt so good, so i just told her, “have fun.” then yesterday, maybe she was really touched by the allowance or something my younger sibling suddenly called me on facetime. she never does that, you know. 🧸 but i couldn’t answer because i was busy with my schedule. then she sent me a video of the sea and texted, “oppa, what are you doing?” that kind of thing never happens, so it made me really happy. anyway, yeah… just a small little episode.

The cat humanity betrayed: Félicette France. A small cat living on the streets was dragged into a fate she never chose. The French space agency gathered 14 cats from the streets of Paris to select one to send into space. Félicette was one of them. She was trained for months. Electrodes were implanted in her brain. She was spun in centrifuges. Kept in pressure chambers. On October 18, 1963, she was placed inside a rocket. No one asked for her consent. After launch, she spent 15 minutes in space. Her brain activity was recorded. Every breath monitored. Every reaction noted. She was valuable to scientists, but only as a test subject. The capsule landed. Félicette survived. And her reward? A few months later, she was killed so her brain tissue could be examined. Then scientists admitted: they learned nothing from the experiment. Félicette died for nothing. For decades, even her name was forgotten. She was called “Astrocat” and erased. The French space program gained critical data thanks to her, yet she didn’t even have a statue bearing her name for years. In 2019, after a campaign started by students at the University of Cambridge, a memorial was finally built. 56 years later. Félicette never volunteered. She didn’t deserve any of this. Yet she went down in history, along with humanity’s shame. On behalf of humanity, I’m sorry, Félicette. Because of our selfishness, you lost your short life for nothing. Please forgive us. 😭💔

Michael Mann on the pivotal scene in Heat when Ashley Judd’s character Charlene chooses to warn Chris instead of giving him up to the police - despite knowing what it’s going to cost her: “In this scene, I confess I’m stunned with how wonderful Ashley Judd is; the expressions on her face as she processes all her options and what she has to do - and then she waves them off. She’s established early in the film as a practical, emotionally mature adult trying to put together a small family. And those are her values. They are family values. She knows that she ought to cooperate with the police and she ought to let Chris (Val Kilmer) fall. That would protect her child, and no instinct is more profound or powerful than the maternal instinct she has right there. And she’s set up for us to expect that she will do exactly that- even though the anguish would be intense, she would give up Chris to protect the family unit that remains. But when she goes to do that on the porch, she sees him and can’t help herself. She’s in love with the guy. You can see her face processing those choices, the endearment she feels for him, and then she does the irrational act and waves them off. In that moment, we see a look on Ashley’s face, we see a sense of what her future is going to be — which is going to be grim. And it’s there again when she closes her eyes as Drucker tells Vincent that the man was not Chris. But of course - it was. And then this is the final moment of Ashley Judd/Charlene Shiherlis in the film: an awareness of the separation from her man, an awareness of what her future holds for her. And with Chris, there’s a parallel moment of realization.” From the director’s commentary track off the Heat Blu-ray

In 1980, a 22-year-old Michelle Pfeiffer walked onto The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson having never taken an acting class, never met anyone in the industry, and having found her agent through the Yellow Pages. She had been boxing groceries at Vons supermarket in Orange County. Then she got promoted to checker. "What am I doing here?" she asked herself. That question changed everything. It was her hairdresser who first planted the seed. He kept asking her why she wasn't pursuing acting. For a long time, she dismissed it. Fear of failure. What will people think? The usual voices that talk most of us out of the things we actually want. Then she stopped listening to them. "I said, 'What do you want to do?' And not what everybody else wants you to do. And acting was it." With no money, no contacts, and no roadmap, she did what any resourceful 22-year-old from Orange County would do. She opened the Yellow Pages and started calling agents. Her pitch to the first one she reached was almost absurdly direct: "This is what I want to do. I don't have any money to go through your school. I don't have any money to pay for pictures. I don't want to sign any contracts with you." She laughed recounting it to Carson, noting that somehow that call still worked. Within two years of that phone call, she was sitting across from Johnny Carson on national television, with two film credits to her name. She credited her naivety as a kind of protection. "I look back and I think it's been very fortunate because I was very naive and I could have been taken advantage of." The industry she walked into had a reputation for chewing up hopeful newcomers. She walked through it without knowing enough to be afraid of it. Her parents were worried. That was real. But the moment she showed them this was not a whim, that it was a genuine calling, the dynamic shifted completely. "I certainly had their support once they knew. I mean, this is really what I wanted to do. Once they knew that, I had their support 100%."

This woman walked into this ice cream shop and ordered an ice cream cone. When they handed it to her she told them she couldn’t pay for it. 😳 The employees said she had to pay for it. She didn’t have any money. She asks them if they are going to call the cops. This male customer sitting there chimes in and says if they call the cops he will be a witness. The woman said she told them she wanted it for free but the man said that’s not true. He said he watched her the whole time. She tries to put it down on the countertop but the employee tells her don’t leave it there. So she walks over and throws it in the trash. The witness tells her “this is what entitlement looks like” as she walks out the door. Some people said why not just buy the ice cream for her, to have a heart, because you never know what someone is going through. Others said if she had asked the right way and told them up front she didn’t have any money then maybe they would have purchased it for her but to come in and order and THEN tell them you don’t have any money is just wrong. This wasn’t a steak or a burger or a meal, I could see buying her those things to help someone out that is hungry but an ice cream is not a necessity. No one owes anyone anything. What do you think? Should one of them have bought the ice cream for her, given it to her for free? Or do you think she was trying to get something for free and trying to take advantage of them?
