A fisherman near Portland caught an exceptionally rare blue lobster and then released it back into the ocean. The color of a lobster's shell is due to astaxanthin, a pigment that interacts with proteins to produce various hues. Blue lobsters are a rarity, occurring roughly once in every 100 million lobsters.
