#RM explaining why BTS chose 'ARIRANG' as the name of their fifth album. 🐨 When we reunited as seven again, we kept thinking about what truly feels most like us, most like BTS. 🐨 And we wanted to show where we started from. 🐨 All of us are Korean. 🐨 So we felt it would be very meaningful to include something that represents Korea. 🐨 That's how the keyword 'Arirang' came up. 🐨 Arirang is something everyone interprets differently, because its lyrics are abstract. 🐨 So I think about wistfulness, longing and love. 🐨 To be honest I thought a lot about those things when I was in the military. 🐨 Because you end up reflecting a lot on the past and on performing again, too. 🐿️ You have this longing for everything while you're in the military. 🐨 You yearn for society, the ARMY, you miss the BTS members, the past. 🐨 Arirang contains all the joys and sorrows of life, and since it’s been a long time since we released an album, 🐨 we wanted to encompass everything we’ve been through in our music, and we felt that the concept of Arirang could really capture that and tie the album together. 26.01.16

We thought about that a lot, and we wanted to show where we started, I think. 🐨: All seven of us are also, all Korean, too, and we thought it would be good if something symbolizing Korea could be included together, and while thinking that, we ended up, uh, bringing up the keyword, uh, “Arirang.” 🐨: “Arirang,” of course, is kind of… honestly, everyone interprets it differently, since the lyrics are abstract. ARIRANG TOUR IN BUSAN D2 #RM ending ment for BTS 13th anniversary. 🐨 Ok everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve felt such mixed feelings like this. 🐨 13… 🗣️ *KIM NAMJOON* 🐨 Thank you. It’s been a while since I’ve heard that. 🐨 Everyone…well.. 🐨 It’s been quite a long time, hasn’t it? 🐨 Honestly, it feels like just yesterday that we were in the practice room performing “No More Dream” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt.2,” but somehow all this time has already passed. 🐨 So much has changed since then. 🐨 We worked hard here in Korea, then gradually spent more and more time overseas, there was more English in our lyrics, and so many other changes happened along the way. 🐨 During that time, K-pop as an industry grew tremendously, and younger artists started coming to us more often. 🐨 They ask us things like, “How have you managed to stay together as a team for so long?” 🐨 They asked before we enlisted, and they still ask now. 🐨 But honestly, I don't really know. 🐨 I think I've continued to reflect on myself through these 6 members, and through all of you who are here and who continue to watch over us. 🐨 Unlike before, I don't really share my thoughts that often, and I don't talk openly about my feelings much either. 🐨 So it feels like it's been a while since I've said this to you. 🐨 Anyway, over the years, there was “Love Yourself”, there was “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life”, “Dynamite”, and so many things all the way to ARIRANG. 🐨 While performing “Magic Shop” earlier, the past 13 years flashed before my eyes like a revolving lantern. 🐨 Anyway, being able to be here together like this is truly such an honor, and I'm so grateful. 🐨 No matter where we are, and no matter what we look like, we'll always do our very best, and keep working hard to show you who we truly are. 🐨 I hope you'll continue to stay with us for a long, long time. 🐨 Thank you. 🐥 ARMYs might wonder: Arirang all of a sudden? 🐿️🐰 correct 🐥 like why'd it be Arirang? 🐻 but I also wondered that 🐿️😂 suddenly? 🐰 like "oh?", "eh?", "huh?" 🐿️like "it's Arirang?" but we did surprise them 🐹 that's right 🐥 international ARMYs might've wondered what is Arirang and Korean ARMYs might be like why is it Arirang all of a sudden 🐻 but the secret to this will be revealed gradually 🐿️ how will it be revealed? 🐻 once the album comes out: "boom" 🐨I hope the album come sout fast 🐰 right it's too far 🐨 ah please the album come out quickly 🐥 I think it'll get explained once they listen to the album 🐨 right, when we all gathere together, we started from wondering "what all we did together so far" and I think we wanted to show where we started from.. all 7 of us are Koreans and we were hoping that something that represents/symbolizes Korea would go into it as well and the keyword "Arirang" came up.. honestly everyone interprest Arirang differently since the lyrics are abstract... like sentimentality and longing and love, is what I think of it as.. 🐰 right 🐨 honestly, while I was in the military, I thought of that a lot.. like the past and doing concerts 🐿️ we longed for/missed it all 🐨 we missed (being out in) the society, we missed ARMY, and missed the Bangtan members a lot as well, the past as well.. and since Arirang contains the happiness, anger, sadness, and joy of humans... so we hope that that sentiment, would be included in the album that we're releasing after a long along with the music including the happiness, anger, sadness, and joy that we experienced ourselves, we thought that it'd tie it all up together well. 🐿️ it really seems like 'us' and feels like our roots...
