Finished: Prime 4 I'm so mixed on this game. On one hand it has some many great strengths like a fantastic soundtrack and great bosses, but on the other it's padding takes a lot from it's potential. While it's not perfect It still brings a lot of great stuff. 7.5 outta 10

I think Trump 2.0 will be a lot smarter and more stable. There’s a lot of great talent in the people he’s bringing in, especially with the D.O.G.E factor. The idea of saving money and deregulating is great no matter which side you’re on. Businesses all over the USA are loving it.

Krull (1983). A high fantasy movie with big budget practical effects, Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall) must recruit a team of thieves, vagabonds, shape-shifters and mystics to rescue Princess Lyssa (Lysette Anthony) from the clutches of the evil Beast and his army of Slayers. The film has a great supporting cast including Alun Armstrong, Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane who all have lots of fun being lovable bandits battling some pretty impressive alien warriors. Bernard Bresslaw plays the Cyclops and Freddie Jones does sterling duty as the narrator. This didn't do so well at the box office: audiences were expecting Star Wars, not Hawk the Slayer with lasers. But it's a good old fashioned epic fantasy and has a great score from James Horner. Is it a forgotten classic? That might depend on your mood but it's a highly enjoyable movie with a solid plot and a certain sense of style.

A few hours into Beast of Reincarnation and I’m enjoying it… but it has its shortcomings. Its aesthetic, world design and soundtrack give strong NieR/Stellar Blade vibes from the jump and it sets a great atmosphere. Combat and traversal are fun, exploration is enjoyable and rewarding, and the world is genuinely intriguing. Story’s interesting but it’s held back by some awkward dialogue and stiff animations. And whilst the visuals can look great, some tech issues, muddy textures and fps dips during cutscenes, leave it feeling a bit unpolished. Dropping a full article detailing my early game impressions in the coming days.

Flatliners (1990) is still a beautiful looking movie. Gothic is quite hard to do well, but this is excellent and full of atmosphere as well as moments of menace. People disagree on if it's a good story, and I think audiences were expecting something more supernatural than what this is (a story of psychological guilt projection), but it has a Brat Pack feel and its pretty sleek. I don't mind that it's not that deep, it's a movie of images and atmosphere and that's fine.

Update on the mine! OPM has successfully executed the first ever fully digital retirement. The process took 2 days and more work is needed, but this is a great improvement from the current paper solution taking multiple months. Great job by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management team.

Tucker Carlson: Let's stop talking ourselves into lunacy here. I mean, military is great. Everyone supports the military. Certainly, it's well funded. A lot of that funding is wasted. There's a lot of theft. Building aircraft carriers is obviously insane, as any person could have told you. There's obviously a lot to learn from the waste in $1.5 trillion in Pentagon funding, but the military is still impressive and has lots of great people and etc., etc., etc. But no matter how great your military is, there are things you can't achieve with it. That's just a fact. It's always been a fact. Wise people understand that. There's no leader in the world with any wisdom or foresight who doesn't understand that. And now perhaps our leaders will understand it.

The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977). This H.G. Wells novel is very hard to film well, and Island Of Lost Souls is still the best interpretation, but the '77 version is (I think) very good. Burt Lancaster is a great choice for Dr. Moreau and draws you in well, while Michael York is actually pretty impressive when he lets go. The make-up and prosthetics hold up well enough, though they lack a bit of fear and horror, and the fights between animals and man-beasts are pretty intense.
