I caught one in my hand reflexively once that came through the windscreen drirectly in front of me. “WHAM!” And up went my left hand in front of my heart and I caught a spent .22 bullet in my hand and there was a perfectly round hole right in front of me, “Did that hit you!!” I transferred it to my right hand and passed it over to the pax in the right seat. “You caught it!” “Oh, yeah. All pilots have quick reflexes.” Weirdest thing I ever saw. Thing must have been shot from a mile away and had just enough energy to penetrate clean and make it to my hand. Sure impressed and made a good story though. Was near Manassas, VA on I-66 and in a car and not plane; have taken a few in planes though. Why people would ever shoot at CG aircraft is beyond me. Or Army or AF that I have flown and in also.

Somebody got irritated by them flying over.

We used to call it 100 mph tape when I was in the Army. Works good on helicopters too.
