I’d say this little #snow burst over performed a bit at a bad time of day Salt trucks have to play catch up but may not be staffed to do that right now both in #Chicago and IDOT

Chicago's Mayor ordered all city salt trucks to form a mobile roadblock to hinder ICE operations. IDOT deployed state plows and salt trucks early on 9/6/2025, moving slowly side-by-side on I-294, I-94, and the Edens Expressway, occupying all lanes into Chicago.

Monday Evening Ops Update Ongoing snow operations = ongoing salt needs. And we’ve got that covered! Trash IS getting collected. Snow IS getting moved and melted. We are still working round-the-clock – workers are working 24/7 – on both collection AND snow removal. We’ve got hundreds of collection trucks on every shift, 12 hours at a time, and we plan to keep it going until we are totally caught up.

Something’s not right. Dozens of FedEx trucks. Middle of nowhere in Tennessee. No drivers. No explanation. Just sitting there. Why?

Lite snow falling in Downtown Cleveland. The City has announced it has a road salt shortage. They plan to only salt main roads and troublesome intersections. The City blames Cargill for not filling their salt order.

Snow is falling. It’s go time. Our salt spreaders are one of the first pieces of snow fighting vehicles you’ll be seeing today. They have ALREADY been on their routes for hours, dropping salt along the way. Once two inches of snow had fallen, they will be joined by our collection truck-turned snowplows. Stay warm, NYC.

Chicago’s mayor deployed every salt truck in the city to block ICE last night. Because when the forecast calls for ICE, you salt the roads until it melts. ❄️🧂 By dawn today, IDOT plows and salt trucks were out on I-294, the Edens, and I-94 — crawling shoulder to shoulder, jamming every lane into Chicago. A wall of trucks, moving slow, making it clear: ICE isn’t welcome here.

Ok now I must admit that is the first time I’ve ever seen cement trucks plowing snow. That's a smart way to use your trucks on the off season.
