I think this is all true. It didn't feel like Targaryen madness, but the culmination of a lot of loss. But she also didn't show any remorse for what she had done. She would have killed anyone who had done this in Astapor, Yunkai, or Meereen. And she indicated that she would do the same to the rest of Westeros.
