Newsflash: In this election, there is no “traditional PDP stronghold”. There are no “entitled” votes anywhere. Per current INEC data, there are 100 million registered voters. Only less than 24 million decided the last election. Rather than this boring - every 4 market days - mantra of “divided opposition”, all candidates should roll up their sleeves, GO OUT THERE and canvass for votes while clamoring for a free and fair election and urging the electorate to protect their votes. Hopefully you’ll let this “spoiler effect” thing rest. The clamor should be “Make This Election Too Big Too Rig”, encourage high voter turn out and protection of votes. Our Neighbor Ghana decided their last presidential election with 64% voter turn out in 2024, ours was barely 23% in 2023. Rather than clamor and push for 50% voter turn out (50 million voters), we will keep hearing “spoiler”, “divided opposition” yen, yen, yen from certain people. Trends exist for a reason. You will not get 40% in 2027. They’ll struggle to even cross 30%, considering that with the Obi wave we only managed 27% in 2023. With Buhari turnout was 35% in 2019 and 44% in 2015. I hope, in all you do, you let the data and not sentiments guide you.

In 2023 the opposition collectively scored higher than the president. In 2027, regardless of who wins, that will hold true also. I challenged Wike’s claims by asking why it wasn’t applied in other strongholds. But I recognize that his attempts to split opposition votes align with basic political strategy.

The good thing is that in 2023, Obi had a running mate who lost his polling unit and ward in the presidential election. If not, some of you would have said that Obi got the votes because of his running mate. Obi is popular. Obi is one politician 99% of Nigerian politicians want to be.
